Horizon EBSNA

This year (2023/24), Lomond View Academy is piloting a model to support pupils dealing with emotionally based school non-attendance (EBSNA).

We are aware that many young people face a wide range of emotional factors when attending school which can result in increased or prolonged absence.

Model 1 is a targeted intervention programme that takes account of pupil needs. In our Horizon Room, staff determine individual educational requirements and employ a nurturing approach to encourage engagement with school-work.

Initially, pupils will have a phased introduction to the model and work one-to-one with their teacher.

Our aim, in line with Curriculum for Excellence, is to build confidence in our young people in the hope that they may return to a mainstream setting, take responsibility for their learning, acknowledge their success and effectively contribute to the wider school community.
