Acorn Grove

Welcome to Acorn Grove

From tiny acorns, mighty oaks grow.

Welcome to Acorn Grove, the specialist ASN provision within King’s Oak Primary, supporting children and young people with additional support needs.

As part of the King’s Oak Primary community, Acorn Grove is a welcoming and inclusive environment where every learner is valued as an individual. We recognise that every child has their own strengths, interests, needs and aspirations, and we work to create learning experiences that allow each learner to grow, develop and achieve in their own way.

Our learning environment is nurturing, stimulating and engaging, with personalised learning at the heart of what we do. Through carefully planned learning experiences, we support learners to develop their communication, independence, social, emotional, cognitive and life skills, while providing opportunities for enjoyment, creativity, challenge and success.

We believe that every learner has the potential to grow, and our role is to provide the right support, opportunities and encouragement to help them flourish.

Working Together

Strong relationships and partnership working are at the heart of Acorn Grove. We work closely with parents and carers, school staff, partner health professionals and other multi-agency partners to develop a shared understanding of each learner and their individual needs.

By working together, we aim to provide consistent, meaningful and effective support, ensuring that each learner has the opportunity to participate, make choices, develop confidence and achieve their potential.

Our Acorn Grove Community

At Acorn Grove, we strive to create an environment where every member of our school community feels:

  • Respected
  • Responsible
  • Included
  • Nurtured
  • Safe
  • Active
  • Healthy
  • Achieving

These values are embedded within our everyday practice and help us create a positive environment where learners feel a strong sense of belonging.

Our Aims

At Acorn Grove, we aim to:

  • Provide a welcoming, safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for learners, families and staff.
  • Provide a meaningful and relevant curriculum that reflects each learner’s individual needs, strengths, interests and aspirations.
  • Create engaging and enjoyable learning experiences that provide appropriate support and challenge.
  • Support learners to develop their communication, independence, confidence and ability to participate in school and the wider community.
  • Work in close partnership with parents, carers and professionals to ensure that each learner’s needs are understood and effectively supported.
  • Provide opportunities for every learner to experience success, celebrate achievements and develop their individual potential.
  • Continue to develop our practice through professional learning, collaboration and reflective practice, ensuring high-quality learning experiences and support for all.

Growing Together at King’s Oak Primary

Acorn Grove is an important part of the wider King’s Oak Primary community. We value inclusion and seek to create meaningful opportunities for our learners to participate in school life alongside their peers wherever appropriate.

Our vision is for every learner to feel that they belong, are valued, are listened to and can achieve.

Just as a tiny acorn can grow into a mighty oak, we believe every child can grow, flourish, and achieve great things with the right support, opportunities, and encouragement.
