Solution-Oriented Approaches

Solution-Oriented Practice is a change-focused approach that enables people of all ages to progress in their lives by putting the emphasis on what they want for the future.  The approach amplifies people’s strengths and successes, highlighting the capacities they already have to make change.  In Inverclyde, the EPS have collaborated with education and social work staff for over a decade to develop principles and practices to empower children, young people and families.

A solution-oriented conversation or meeting is likely to include some or all of the following aspects:

How can Inverclyde EPS help others by using solution-oriented approaches?

The team can provide support to professionals who work with children and young people, by providing consultation, training, coaching or collaborating to develop interventions using the following solution-oriented approaches:

  • Solution-oriented meetings.
  • Solution-oriented conversations with children, young people and families.
  • Solution-oriented classroom practice (e.g. WoWW framework)
  • Solution-oriented mentoring.
  • Solution-oriented circles.
  • Solution-oriented consultations.
