Restorative Approaches

Restorative Approaches focus on building and repairing relationships, ensuring accountability, fairness and learning takes place.  It can be both a preventative approach by building relationships in classrooms and schools, as well as an approach that responds sensitively to conflict.  In Inverclyde, the EPS have led on the practice of restorative approaches within schools by providing training and coaching opportunities.

What can Inverclyde EPS offer in relation to restorative approaches?

For educational establishments wishing to review their restorative practices, the EPS will collaboratively develop and deliver training to meet local need.  An implementation plan will be developed in collaboration with the establishment to ensure sustainability and increase effectiveness.

Approaches could include restorative circles, restorative classrooms, corridor stops and restorative conversations.
