Man On Inverclyde – Suicide Prevention and Lived Experience event at the Beacon
Members of the Educational Psychology Service attended at the Beacon Arts Centre in Greenock today to participate in the Suicide Prevention and Lived Experience event hosted by Man On Inverclyde. Our very own Kathryn Mackenzie, Trauma Informed Practice Lead Officer, was one of the keynote speakers at today’s event and delivered an insightful presentation on Trauma Informed Practice and the important role this plays in Suicide Prevention.
The event brought together a wide range of people who live and work in Inverclyde, as well as national partners from Scottish Government, with a shared focus on securing better outcomes for people experiencing suicidal crisis, through a focus on relationships.
Throughout the event, Kathryn, Maria and John had the opportunity to connect with a range of people from across Inverclyde and beyond and participated in group conversations to discuss the benefits of lived experience support; how we can support each other within the community; and how we can support our peers.
The day was an excellent example of Time, Space and Compassion in action, building on people’s experience, human connection and relationships, and offering a shared language, resources, and ways to connect and take action together.
