Reflections of a Trainee Teacher – @EarlyYearsIdeas

“He who dares to teach must never cease to learn.” ~ Richard Henry Dann

online maths assessment

2nd October 2014

On my first attempt at the OMA I achieved a score of 67%.

I found the assessment quite challenging and it has highlighted the fact that I have quickly forgotten some of the areas which I learned last year as I have not continued to practice. I feel that my anxiety around maths has also contributed to this score which is not as high as I would have liked. I hope to build my confidence as I continue to access the resource.

Particular areas of weakness which have been highlighted are fractions and prime numbers.

In order to improve my math skills, I intend to read over my notes from the intermediate 2 course that I completed last year. I will also use some of the practice assessments which I’ve been given in order to remind myself of the processes and approaches to problems. Finally, I will continue to access the OMA so that I can track my progress.

13th October 2015

On my second attempt I achieved a score of 72%. This is a marked improvement from my first effort and I am pleased to see my progress. I have noted the areas of weakness and will continue to practise in order to improve my abilities.

On my next attempt I hope to achieve 80%
