Aim of the resource

  • Probe thinking around how we advise young people about STEM education and STEM jobs
  • Use discussion, reflection and action to encourage a greater number of learners from diverse backgrounds into STEM pathways and jobs.
  • Connections with children’s rights, sustainable development goals and the STEM nation award are also highlighted.

  How to use the resource:

  • Each section contains information and an opportunity to pause and reflect.  The sections are hyperlinked to allow ease of navigation. 
  • The sections are not arranged in any particular order, but we recommend you start with context and practitioner role. 

Options: 

  • Use as a full presentation
  • Chunk it for use in meetings
  • Work through at individual pace
  • Tailor it to suit

Who created this resource? 

  • This resource was created and informed by conversations between Education Scotland, Skills Development Scotland and two local authorities in the Forth Valley and West Lothian Region – Falkirk and Clackmannanshire. 
  • It is research and evidence informed.
