Welcome to Education Scotland’s STEM Nation online resource
In 2017 the Scottish Government published the STEM Education and Training Strategy for Scotland – setting out its bold and ambitious agenda to make Scotland a world-leading STEM nation. The recommendations in the strategy are set out under four major themes: inspiration, excellence, connection and equity.

To inspire children, young people and adults to study STEM and to continue their studies to obtain more specialist skills.
Equity
To close equity gaps in participation and attainment in STEM so that everyone has the opportunity to fulfil their potential and contribute to Scotland’s economic prosperity.

This resource has been created by Education Scotland to support the implementation of this national strategy and to help develop a coherent national approach to STEM professional learning. Our hope is that it empowers practitioners to improve their approaches to STEM (sciences, technologies, engineering and mathematics) education in their settings by:

Helping them navigate quickly and easily to high-quality resources, research and STEM professional learning

Giving them access to an online directory of high-quality STEM support organisations

Supporting effective whole setting and school approaches to STEM through our exciting new STEM Nation Award programme

Sharing great STEM news, ideas and practice from across Scotland.
