STEM Nation Award Open Days 2026

Building on last year’s successful STEM Nation Award Open Days, our team at Education Scotland is delighted to announce that we are working with a group of inspirational educators to host a series of STEM Nation Open Days across Scotland. The programme of visits will run throughout February and March 2026.

Event dates and locations

The map below shows the location of all six settings involved in the programme of events. Dates, times and ticketing links will be listed on this page for each event.

Practitioners are welcome to attend any event that is of interest to them. These events are FREE to attend. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Early booking is advised to avoid disappointment.

Target audience

  • Practitioners from early learning and childcare, primary, secondary and ASN sectors. Practitioners working in the CLD sector are also welcome to attend if they have an interest in the work of the specific school or ELC setting.
  • School and setting leaders interested in learning more about the STEM Nation Award programme.
  • Local authority education officers with remits for STEM.

Aims of the Open Days

  1. To exemplify and share interesting and innovative practice from STEM Nation settings with other educators and STEM stakeholders to promote the STEM Nation Award programme and support the development of STEM practice across Scotland.
  2. To recognise and celebrate the achievements of individual settings as part of the STEM Nation Award programme within their own local community.

Format of the events

Each open day will be planned and coordinated by individual STEM Nation Award settings. Examples of activities that may be included in the open day programme are:

  • Tour of the school/setting
  • Time to observe and engage with STEM learning experiences
  • Question and answer session with the setting’s Young STEM Leaders
  • Time to meet with STEM industry partners who are supporting the setting on their STEM Nation journey
  • Opportunities to speak to staff about their experience of the STEM Nation Award programme
  • Signposting to support available from Education Scotland’s STEM team including STEM Nation Award support, STEM self-evaluation and improvement support and further networking and professional learning opportunities.
