Technologies
The range of subjects in technical education has changed significantly over the last two decades and now includes craft, design, engineering and graphics. The technologies provide frequent opportunities for active learning in creative and work-related contexts. Children will develop an understanding of technologies and their impact on society. They will also develop confidence and skill in the use of these technologies to create, present and record their own ideas and materials.
Our ICT programme of study develops significant skills in the use of the iPad. We focus on developing skill in using different apps, navigating the internet, computing science and the world of programming and cyber security. Pupils all have access to Showbie where they will be able to upload and document their work. This is delivered mainly in the day-to-day activities within class as we continue to embed digital technology in our daily practice. Pupils from P5-7 all have a 1:1 device. Other classes have class sets. Many classes also get a visit from the digital leader of learning to enhance their skills further.
The is a wide range of technology in the school including, iPads, laptops, Beebots, Spheros, micro:bits, Lego Spike and interactive SMART boards that further support learning and teaching across the curriculum.
