Welcome from the Head Teacher
I would like to welcome you and your child to Wellshot Primary School. This website contains a range of information that you might find helpful. I hope that it gives you a glimpse of life at Wellshot Primary School.
Wellshot Primary was inspected by HMIE in Term 3 of 2019. The report was very encouraging and acknowledged the extremely positive morale of all staff, parents and pupils alike. You can view this online. We are dedicated to making all children’s educational experience challenging, motivating and relevant to the world of work. We are committed to forging links with the local and wider community. Our achievements include 7 Eco School Green Flags, two Diamond Partnership Awards, Formal Health Promoting School Status, International Excellence Award, Fair Trade School Award,Scottish Education Award and two Marjorie Boxall Quality Mark Awards for our Nurture Class, which is called The Rainbow Room.
Various activities are organised by our pro-active Parent Council throughout the year. We recognise the importance of a strong partnership with our parents and are constantly striving to strengthen links between home and school. We have strong business links with ASDA, TESCO, Barr Construction and the Co-Op. We also work hard to involve outside agencies such as With Kids, Play Therapy, Educational Psychology, Speech and Occupational Therapy in the work of the school for benefit of the children.
We pride ourselves in the wide range of extra curricular activities including football, Dance, Mini kickers as well as our Rise and Shine Club. We also have an annual residential trip for upper primary children. We are very fortunate to have PLACE 2Be working with children and families in Wellshot. We are a PATHS school and work closely with Barnardos to improve the wellbeing of all our pupils.
We have a well established Nurture Class run by accredited staff who support children who may need additional targeted support to aid them learning within the mainstream class. The Nurture Principles are embedded and are adopted across the school.
