S1 and S2: Building Foundations in Science
Your child will embark on an exciting journey through a variety of engaging science courses in S1 and S2.
The curriculum for S1 includes:
- Junior Scientist: Ann introduction to scientific inquiry and experimentation
- Matter: Exploring the properties and behaviour of matter
- Waves and optics: Understanding the principles of light and sound
- Cells and Reproduction: Delving into the building blocks of life and the processes of reproduction
- The Periodic Table: Learning and the elements and their interactions.
In S2, the course broadens to cover:
- Energy and Electricity: Investigating the principles of energy and electrical circuits.
- Chemical Reactions: Examining the fundamental processes of chemical change.
- The Human Body: Understanding human anatomy and physiology.
- Forces and Space: Exploring the forces that govern motion and the wonders of our universe.
- Planet Earth: Studying the Earth’s systems and environmental science.
S3 and S4: Specialisation and Advanced Study
Towards the end of S2, students will have the opportunity to choose from a selection of specialized courses:
- NPA Science and Health
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
These choices will form the foundation for their studies in S3 and S4.
At the conclusion of S4, students will be prepared to complete either National 4 or take exams at National 5 in their selected science discipline
S5 and S6: Advanced Science Studies
In S5 and S6, students can further specialise by choosing from Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. These courses are offered at both National 5 and Higher levels, providing rigorous preparation for further education and careers in science.
