Emergency Vehicles coming through!

Today we were lucky enough to have the chance to see lots of emergency vehicles up close! Several children brought in their models to show to the class and all gave very impressive descriptions of what they had made and how we could do it ourselves.

Well done everyone!

Play

Lately our play has been producing some wonderful moments that we would like to share with you.

We have been building amazing models:

A zoo –

A bird –

Snowflakes made of snowflakes

A jet

A chair –

Another elaborate zoo

We’ve had ballerina’s performing for queens, princesses and queens serenading doctors and builders, as well as beautifully sculpted ice cream cones of sand, cards and letters produced at our writing table and wonderful pictures painted in a myriad of colours.

Everyone’s imaginations have been whirring at full speed all term – hopefully we can keep going until the end of the week!

Solving Problems

The class has been learning lots of new maths strategies this term. One technique is to draw a picture to solve a problem and we have been practicing hard to get this right.

We have even been working on fixing problems which have been done incorrectly and discovered there is sometimes more than one solution!

Brian has returned!

After hearing that Brian felt a bit out of place in the classroom we thought carefully about how we could make it better for him. We decided to create an area which would remind him of his forest home. Then we wrote a letter to him telling him what we had done. It worked and Brian came back to the classroom with a big smile on his face! We are now working on something special to commemorate the experience of ‘going on a bear rescue’. Check back for an update in a few days!

Missing Bear!

You may or may not have heard about Brian. He is our class bear and unfortunately he seems to have gone missing this week! Thankfully the whole class has remained calm and came up with some great ideas of ways to get him back, such as phoning the police and making missing posters.

On Thursday morning we went around the school to stick up posters and told the other classes all about Brian so that they could keep an eye out for him as well.

Please take a moment to look at some of our posters and let us know if you see him!

Our Number Posters!

Our number posters have been completed and are now proudly on display in the classroom!

A group of 5 boys and girls carefully cut out all the pictures we had gathered, made the numbers using old newspaper, and stuck everything to big sheets of paper for everyone to see.

We had a wonderful time!

We worked together as a team for a long time to make this big long bridge out of cubes. It was also a snake. (Iyla)

We did good work. (Ava)

It was 193 cubes long!

Outdoor Maths

This week was Maths Week in Scotland so we took some of our learning outdoors. We found objects to represent different numbers which will be used to create posters. Some of the pictures are below. Stay tuned to see images of the finished product!

Welcome to Primary 1/2!

Hello and welcome!

We have had a very busy start to the year but the Primary 1s have settled in well, thanks to a little help from their Primary 2 classmates.

This year is going to continue to be busy with lots of events happening so keep an eye out for letters coming home. We hope to see you at some of the events in the next while but if you can’t make it, don’t worry, we will post some pictures here so you don’t miss out!

Keep visiting the site to get a glimpse into the world your children experience!
