Starting School – Pre Entrants August 2021

We are delighted that your child will be joining us at Hillington Primary very soon. We want to help you all get ready for Primary 1 and have included some important information in this post. This information has also been sent out via letter to all families who have enrolled their child in Primary 1 for August 2021.

We want to keep in touch with you between now and your child starting school. As such we would be grateful if you could complete and return the Groupcall Parent Contact Detail form that has been enclosed in the letter posted out today. Please return in the pre-paid envelope provided by Monday the 12th of April 2021. This will allow us to email you more information about the school including our school handbook and information about ordering your new school uniform. Once we have everyone’s contact information we will arrange for transition information to be sent out to you via email.

To prepare for joining us at Hillington Primary we have made a video of our school for you that you can watch on our school YouTube channel –

We have also included an ‘All About Me’ activity in the letter posted out today for your child to complete and bring to school with them on their first day in August 2021.

You can keep up to date with things that are happening in school through our school website.

P3-P5/4 Science Experiment

This afternoon P3-P5/4 class in school grew their own rainbows.

We needed:
kitchen roll, water, coloured pens and a jug to pour the water.

First we coloured in the kitchen roll with different colours at each side. Then we put water into 2 cups. After that, we put the edges of the kitchen roll into each of the cups and then we watched our rainbows grow.

The rainbows grew because the water touched the pen on both sides and it travelled up the kitchen roll until it met in the middle.

Have a look at how we got on.
