Transfer from Primary to Secondary School

Primary 7 transition can be an exciting time for young people but also a time of uncertainty. Here at Hillington Primary we aim to make the transition process as smooth as possible for all young people who will moving on to Secondary School. We work closely with secondary school colleagues both at our feeder high school but also with colleagues across the city and beyond. Transition working begins with our pupils from Primary 6 and continues through to Primary 7 when the students leave us in June to prepare them for the transfer to secondary school .

Children and young people normally transfer between the ages of 11½ and 12½, so that they will have the opportunity to complete at least 4 years of secondary education.
