S2 Literacy Leaders

Miss Rothery and Miss Lawrie recently created a brand new role for S2 pupils: Literacy Leaders!

After the success of our First Minister’s Reading Challenge, we were eager to create a special role in which S1 pupils moving into S2 could lead Literacy events, activities and more across the school.

With over 30 applicants and a week long interview process, 10 pupils were selected and given Literacy Leader badges & lanyards. We were so pleased to see so many enthusiastic applicants- it was truly inspirational!

For more information on our Literacy Leaders and how to become one, please visit our department blog and click under the ‘S2 Literacy Leader’ tab! https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/glowblogs/hillheadhighenglish/

S3 Study Skills Day

On Wednesday, May 29th, S3 pupils had an excellent day of learning study skills across the curriculum.

In each class they attended, a new method of revision was demonstrated. From flash cards to graphic organisers, podcasts and more, we hope that pupils can apply these study strategies to a variety of subjects!

SEET premiere awards: Hillhead success!

A huge congratulations to our fantastic pupils involved with the SEET award show.

One of our groups involved in the SEET premiere awards in Glasgow won the award for Best Acting in a foreign language short film!

This was the first time we had entered the competition, which had more than 200 entrants from all over Scotland. We had two teams selected for the final. Not only were we the only Glasgow state school selected for the film making workshop but the pupils managed to win a prize too! Bravo to all pupils and staff involved!!

Here are the films ( slight technical glitch with the subtitles, but at least you can enjoy the fine acting!)
