The transition between the Broad General Education (BGE) at the end of S3 and Senior Phase (S4, S5 & S6) is a highly significant milestone on any child’s educational journey. In Hillhead High School, for almost all, this means young people commence two-year programmes of learning, lasting throughout S4 and S5.
For S3 pupils the process starts in December. PSE lessons will focus on future pathways, making decisions for the future and options choice. Arrangements are also made for outside providers (Skills Development Scotland and Further Education Partners) to deliver sessions to pupils.
In December pupils will attend an information assembly and undertake a ‘Scoping Exercise’. As when moving from S2 into S3 this is intended to get pupils familiar with the system used to select options as well as allowing for the school to measure the demand for different subjects.
Please be aware that, although paper options will continue to exist, all options choice information will be collected via an electronic form system.
Following the Scoping Exercise the final options choice form will be created. Pupils and Carers will be informed at the point when this goes live (Through January and Early February)
Parents a carers can access and try a practice version of the S3 into S4 Scoping Exercise using the link below. THIS IS A PRACTICE VERSION – please use the final official version when instructed (a separate page will go live when the options process begins.
