Free School Meals Drive
Lots of our families, who we believe are entitled to Free School Meals (FSM), have still not registered. As you will be aware all P1-5 pupils attending school in Scotland are entitled to free school meals.
For other pupils (P6-7), parent or carer must be getting:
- Universal credit and earning no more than £726 in the monthly assessment period before you apply.
- CTC only with income under £18,725
- CTC/WTC with income under £8,717
- Income support
- Income-based jobseeker’s allowance
- Income-related employment and support allowance
- Asylum support from the Home Office
If your child is in P1-5 and also eligible for free school meals due to low income, you should still apply for free school meals to make sure that you get the Scottish child payment bridging payment. We would also encourage parents/carers of pupils in P6-7 to apply if you think you meet the criteria above.
Please click on the link below to apply. If you require any assistance please do not hesitate to contact us at the school.

We are delighted to finally share that Camstradden Primary have made it to the finals of the 2023 Scottish Education Awards in the Making a Difference category. We are absolutely delighted! We were nominated for our Acorn Base, our dedicated wellbeing space designed to offer small groups of children a safe space to receive targeted support to re-establish the routines and skills required in their class. We are down to the final 3 and will find out the winner at the award ceremony in June. We will be sure to keep you posted. Well done Team Camstradden!

Primary 4 Reading Challenge!
Primary 4 are taking part in a ‘We Love To Read’ challenge this term. Each child has a bookmark to log the number of minutes they spend reading for enjoyment: 10 minutes = 1 book coloured in. 100 minutes completes the bookmark. We are aiming for 10, 000 words for the whole class! Your child should have a bookmark like the one below in their bag – let’s see if we can meet our target!!

EXITING NEWS – ROOKIE ROCKSTARS ARE COMING TO TOWN!!!
Rookie Rockstars
Camstradden Rocks
We are DELIGHTED to share that Camstradden Primary will be working with the Rookie Rockstars when we return to school after the Easter break. Supported by the Rookie Rockstar Team our pupils will participate in a unique learning experience which tackles anti-bullying, and aims to promote confidence, self-esteem, and positive friendships. The programme is provided to the school by Rookie Rockstars at no cost.
Our school community will have the opportunity to work with professional musicians, learn original songs and perform in their very own rock concert. Our rock concert will take place on the evening of Thursday the 27th of April 2023. It is our expectation that all pupils attend to perform. Families will be able to buy tickets to attend the event when we return from our Easter Break. Tickets are priced at £3 each and are subsidised by the school from the original ticket cost of £5. Due to limited space tickets are limited to 2 tickets per family. Any spare tickets will go on sale the day before the concert. All money raised will go to the Rookie Rockstar charity to support them to deliver this amazing programme in schools.

P7 Transition to High School Information
Transition to Drumchapel High School
Dear Parents/Carers,
We have been gathering key information for a number of months from our Primary colleagues to ensure that our transition is as smooth as possible.
Our staff will be visiting Primary schools over the coming weeks to discuss transitions. Please see the table below as to our plans:
April | Modern Languages staff to deliver fun lessons to Primary 7 pupils in French or Spanish. |
May |
Two visits from Ms Magee (Faculty Head of Performing Arts) and Mr Daly (Faculty Head of English) to deliver lessons on Drumchapel 70. Pupils will be involved in creating a video showcasing the history of Drumchapel. |
A member of Drumchapel’s Rights Respecting Group will deliver a lesson from the Rights Respecting group at Drumchapel High. This will be a theme for transition visits in June. | |
June |
Pastoral Care staff and Partners will visit Primary 7 pupils with two former pupils. This lesson will focus on pupil experiences at Drumchapel High. |
Science teachers will visit Primary Pupils to deliver exciting lessons on STEM. |
We are excited to welcome our Primary 7 cohort to Drumchapel High School for their 2 day visit on Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th June. Pupils should arrive at Drumchapel High for 9.15am and they will be dismissed at 3.15pm. Pupils and their families should make their own travel arrangements to and from school on these days.
Primary 7s will have an immersive experience of Secondary School and will be put into classes with their peers from across the authority. They will be assigned a house group and will get to know some of the staff who will be teaching them throughout their first year. They will have buddies whilst on their visit to support and assist them throughout the day.
They will receive lunch at school on both days. They will not be allowed to go out with the school to obtain their lunch. It will be provided in our hub area.
We are hosting a P7 Information Evening on June 1st from 5pm until 6pm. This will be in Drumchapel High where there will be a presentation from staff, the chance of a tour of the school and finished with a video created by our Primary 7’s on the celebration of Drumchapel 70. There will be an opportunity to meet a number of our staff throughout the night and ask any questions about the coming year.
They will also be gifted a school hoodie and a school tie in August so they can wear this when they start with us.
Please keep an eye on our Twitter and school website for transition videos and photos.
I look forward to seeing you all then,
Mr Ross McClement
Depute Head Teacher (Drumchapel High School)
