Marvellous Monitors

A huge well done to all p7 monitors and soft starters so far. There has been nothing but gallons of praise from staff and children in p1 and p2. You are doing a great job and should be super proud of yourselves. Everyone at Balornock is! Special thank you to p1b who have enjoyed having Henry and Michael’s help at playtimes and lunchtimes so much, they made these beautiful cards!

Writing recounts with Lovely Mrs Harris

We got an extra treat in p7b this Friday when Mrs Harris came to work with us on our recount writing skills. We focused on strategies to use BEFORE we start a piece of writing. Here we are looking for good examples of features in a recount: We’re looking forward to next week when we use what we’ve learned in the planning stage to make better recounts. We’re getting smarter

Things get chilly in p7

Throughout our topic we found out that Climate change could heat up the Earth and cause huge floods. We like to make sure what we’re reading makes sense so we set up an experiment and wrote up our reports to show what we did: Each group created a mini version of somewhere on Earth – Lyla’s group did a tropical island and Chloe’s group did Glasgow. Then we added our

Primary 7 become the teachers in P1!

Our topic in term 1 has been Climate Change. When we heard about primary 1 making posters to tell other classes about saving energy, we knew we could help out. We put all of our new knowledge to great use by creating exciting talks for the classes so that they could understand why saving energy is so important. Our teacher choose two hard working groups who had put lots of

Lovely Literacy Links in p7b

We had a visit from high school teacher Mrs James who showed us how secondary school uses metalinguistics. We made some spelling focussed artwork to help us with the meaning of our tricky words as well as the spelling… Leona even created a whole new brand of cream for sore joints! Her word was ACHE. Zak got us all a present, which we are happy to RECEIVE. Then on Thursday we

So far in P7B

P7b been working very hard so far. We have been doing maths, English,  Spanish, French and much more. Primary 4’s Assembly

We used our class assembly to tell everyone how busy we’ve been, learning sooooo much this year. But we also wanted to let everyone know that we make mistakes all the time too, even the teacher, and that’s ok! We’re still AMAZING kids! We just breathe, relax, shake it off and try again. We even sang a song about it…. Primary 4′ assembly Click here for Some our best bits

Literacy week in P4

Wow – we had a fantastic week, packed with so many different activities for literacy week! We did drama, story boards, character studies, art, map-reading, Liam even wore a big white wig!

We made it rain in our class today!

Today we had a science day in p4! It was great! We wrote a real science report to explain what we did. We have been doing lots of different experiments about the water cycle at the river Nile & Clyde. We made mini clouds in our water bottles when the water evaporated. Then we watched the droplets turn to condensation and then precipitation.

About time in p4

We are all learning how to tell the time. We have used lots of games and activities to help us get more practice. We can read all the times, to and past. Now we’re starting digital! (photos to follow….)
