Hello all, this week the media have created a very professional film about news events they thought were worth reporting on.  They also created a fantastic newspaper report.

WB 16/11/20

The whole school focus this week was Book Week Scotland.  Everyday we had different activities that celebrated the impact and joy that reading books can have.  Below are some of the highlights including reading round the campfire while eating melted marshmallows and reading in unusual places (please note that Yousaf was not harmed in any way during his daredevil book reading while riding his bike!).

A few brave individuals decided to read in front of an entire P1 class!  Bashayer, Mohammad, Zahraa and Andrea did a fantastic job.  Well done.

This week was also looked closer at the religious festival of Diwali.  We incorporated Rangoli patterns into our art and used the technique of Pointillism.  Thanks to Miss Gill for a fantastic lesson!

Welcome back to the P6 blog.  This week the class media groups were working hard to meet the deadlines to publish their work.  The video below is one group’s film on the work we did in class this week.

We also went litter picking round Pollokshields and Maxwell Park with Miss Brooks.  It’s really important we learn about the importance of having streets  that are clean and litter-free.

After our hard work we got some time to play in the park!

Mrs Sheridan Retiring!

In case anyone didn’t know, sadly for St Albert’s we are losing much loved services of Mrs Sheridan.  She has worked at St Albert’s for almost 30 years.  Any parents or auties or uncles who have been taught by her at some point and would like to make a short video saying farewell and good luck would be much appreciated.  You can email them to myself or to the school.
Thanks

First of all I just want to thank all those parents and carers whom I spoke with during the parents evening phonecalls.  It was lovely to talk to each and everyone of you and I appreciate the support you’ve  given me, the school, but most importantly, your children.  Thank you.

P6 had the delightful surprise of welcoming Miss Gill to the class for the next 6 weeks.  As a student teacher she will be learning about all the amazing ways we teach and learn in class.

We started an ambitious new project that will involve every pupil playing a part in their own Media Groups.  Each week will be a new challenge, with a focus on learning about how to report news in different formats including newspapers, TV and social media.  We will post our reports on here every week so stay tuned!

In class, we focussed on Bonfire Night, including talking about the history of Guy Fawkes, firework safety, designing our own firework adjectives and bonfire art.
