Today we were focusing on fractions for our mental maths slot.
We looked at how to make equivalent fractions. These are fractions that have the same value as other fractions.
We made these with paper to help us get the hang of it and the. Looked for a pattern.
Ross joined us for music today. He has been teaching us songs and also teaching us about rhythms, beats and notes.
We have been learning the hand signals for different notes. We now know the signs for La, Mi and Sol.
The girls performed as part of a trio.
We have also been making rhythms with our bodies and clapping them out together. We know that “ta” is one clap and “ti ti” is two claps in the rhythm.
Can you figure out what some of these rhythms are?
Just before the October week, P4/5 went on a trip to the Science Centre in Glasgow. They went to see a very informative documentary which followed astronauts in the International Space Station. Mrs McCafferty felt very sick watching them all floating through space! She would not make a good astronaut!
They also went to see a show called Water Water Water! Which was very interesting and taught us all about how Water is made and the different forms it comes in.
Obviously, there was also some time for exploring all the fun gadgets and experiments which are all over the centre itself. Have a look at some of the things we got up to!
P4/5 started their Socccer 4s sessions this week.
They get to learn important skills that will help them get better at football but also help them with important things such as fitness, patience and teamwork.
Here are some pictures of them hard at work and having fun yesterday.
P4/5 are exploring fractions as part of their mental maths time.
They were given an investigation to do…
They worked in teams to see if all of these squares had been split into equal halves. Let’s have a look at some of their investigations…
Well done P4/5! 👍
We read the story of Jack and the beanstalk during outdoor learning week and thought it would be a perfect story to bring to life outside.
Each group was given a section to act out and we then watched each part in order to watch a live action fairytale.
Mrs McCafferty filmed each of the groups so that you could watch it.
There are definitely some budding actors and actresses in p4/5.

Last week, we had lots of fun participating in outdoor learning activities. We completed literacy, numeracy and expressive arts activities outside in various areas of the school grounds.
Here are some pictures capturing is at our work.
P4/5 went on a whole school trip to Edinburgh Zoo. Some children explored the zoo with their parents and some stayed with the class. Here are some pictures of them enjoying their time at the zoo!
Here is a little look at some of the things we will be learning this term… Hope you are enjoying it so far!
