Our first week in 2020!

Welcome back to everyone, and a happy new year!

We had such a fun start to the year, and we were so busy we didn’t get the chance to take as many pictures as usual.

During the week we worked lots on phonics and looked at all the sounds we learned before the holidays. We had lots of choosing stations to get our brains working again, trying lots of different activates.

Aarv started off by sounding out the words and checking his answer was correct! Well done Aarv!

Abdulhadi – We took home books from the class library to read.

In our writing this week, we focused on character and how to describe them. We started off by describing ourselves.

Lulu – We were writing about our lives.

Inayah – We used adjectives to describe ourselves.

In Grammar we learned about the different types on nouns.

Issa -A proper noun is the name of something.

Aarv – There are also common nouns, these are people, places and things.

Lulu – A proper noun needs a capital letter.

We had an amazing performance from Baldy Bane of Wyliecoat the Wizard. WE LOVED THIS!

Jibraeel -My favourite part was the bad guy screaming.

Deen – My favourite part was when the guy ‘dabbed’.

Inayah – I liked the cat, because he was so funny.

Alvina – I liked the girl, because she was a princess, and she had to use a disguise.

Ajwa – I liked the part, when the wizard made the bad guy dance.

In maths, we looked at money and all the coins up to £2. We also focused on numbers: counting back and forwards and adding numbers together.  We tried using lots of different materials to help us with our adding, now we know the one we like the most.

Aarv- We were adding numbers.

Issa – We were writing numbers down.

Abdulhadi – We were learning how to use stuff to help us with counting in maths.

Subhan – We were using money.

Abdulhadi – We were playing with the money and using it to solve problems.

Aarv – We were matching money and their value.

Ajwa – We were adding money together.

We started to learn our song for our Robert Burns Assembly. We are learning the song: If it winsey for your wellies.

Ajwa – I loved learning the song about wellies.

Have an amazing weekend and I cannot wait to see you all again on Monday!

Miss Graham.
