Book Week Fun!

Another amazing week in Primary 2!

So much fun was had and we even had a trip!

As usual we had the Jeely Piece on Thursday morning and we got to play lots of fun games.

Amer – He was playing with the toys when jeely piece came in.
Issa – We were playing superhero tig. Deen – He is the hulk.
Subhan – Abdullah was dancing and playing.
Deen – We had to get the most cones to be volcanos or crators. Amna – We had to turn the cones.
Alizah – we were playing tig, and Shahmir is doing a spiderman move.
Issa – She is being Iron Man.

As part of our topic we made moving cars with old plastic bottles. Primary 2 put all of the plastic bottles donated to use and made a car to play with.

Ismaeel – Building cars.
Deen – We used plastic bottles so they don’t end up in the sea.
Zainab – We made bottle cars.
Aarv – Using normal cars is bad for the planet. M Abdullah – You leave a carbon footprint when you use a car.
Rida – We worked in teams. Abdulhadi -A big carbon footprint makes the planet hotter and melts the ice.
Issa – We made our cars cooler.
Abdulhadi – We made our cars for our topic.

We celebrated book week this week by reading lots of different books!

We read the hungry caterpillar in French.

We even found some very silly places in the classroom to read!

 

We then finished off the day with the whole class reading and enjoying our books.

Our Trip to the Riverside Museum.

We had an amazing morning today! We took at trip to the Riverside museum.

Here are some of the things Primary 2 learned on their trip.

Lulu – We went to the Riverside Museum to find different types of transport.

Ajwa- We got to draw and make a ship.

Rida – We made a boat.

Inayah – We looked at different types of boats.

Ajwa and Deen – There are battle boats.

Arham – War ships with guns and cannons.

Abdulhadi – They have anchors.

Innayah – There are passenger boats.

Ajwa – They take people on holiday to different countries.

Abdulhadi – They all have propellers.

M Abdullah – The propellers push the boat.

Amer – We had lots of fun.

Ajwa – We went to a museum.

We had an amazing master class all about ships and the different types that sail in the water.

Alvina – We were learning about boats.

We were given a task to find different parts of the boat from the models.

RV – We were finding parts of the boat.

 

We then used the boats on display to help us draw our own design.

Amna – We were designing boats.
M Talha – We were copying the boats.

We then got to try on the different uniforms that people would wear when working in the ship yards.

Ajwa – We were volunteering for jobs on ship yard.
Lulu – She was dressed up as a worker.
Issa – His job was to make sure water didn’t get into the boat. Subhan – He worked on wooden boats.

We even got a chance to practice using our knowledge of how to cross the road safely.

Lulu – We were practicing crossing the road safely. Amna – She was waiting because it was at red.
Shahmir – She is practicing crossing the road. She was looking both ways and she was waiting because it’s a red light.
M Abduallah – Zainab is now crossing because it is green.
Abdulhadi – They were crossing safety and they waited for the green light so there is no cars.

We then got to use our designs to try and build our own ships.

RV – We were building a boat. Armaan- My boat had pirates.

 

Subhan – Two mums came and helped us build our boats with different materials.
Aarv – We were using pencils and materials to make a boat.
Jibraeel – I used lots of rubbish to make my boat, and I put a ‘J’ and windows on it.
Rida – We were making boats and wearing a hard hat.

Thank you so much to the Riverside Museum for an amazing experience.

Primary Two

For the last two weeks, we have had lovely visitors from Serbia. Primary 2 were so lucky on Tuesday and one of the Serbian visitors came along to teach us how to perform a traditional Serbian dance.

Aarv – We were dancing. Rida- We were dancing with Mrs McFadden. Ajwa – The visitors were showing us how to dance. Subhan – We went to the hall and learned a new dance.

On Thursday, we had the Jeely Piece and again had so much fun!

Issa – The Jeely Piece played games with us. Abdulhadi – They played fun games with us.
Rida – We played different types of tig. Arham – We played zombie tig. Aarv – We played octopus.
Innayah – The boys were playing together.

 

In maths with week, we focused on our numbers. We looked at how whole numbers are made.

Abdulhadi – They were rolling with the dice and writing the numbers. RV – You added the numbers together.
Alizah – He was fixing the numbers. Amna – He ordered the numbers.
Issa concentrating hard on ordering numbers.
Armaan- He was putting the numbers in order.

Here are some of the things Primary 2 said about the week.

Subhan – We played nice games with the jeely piece.

Alizah – We were ordering numbers.

Deen – We looked at the number story of 10 and 20.

M Abdullah – We wrote instructions on how to line up.

RV- We played number games.

Amna- We looked at nouns and verbs.

Abdulhadi – A verb is ‘doing something’ and a noun is a place, thing, animal or person.

A cold week in Primary 2

We have had such a fun week learning lots of new things.

We even started planning our nativity!

Here are some of the things Primary 2 have said about the week.

Lulu – We learned more numbers.

Deen – We did starter tasks, writing our words on the white board.

Subhan – We counted in 1’s, 5’s and 10’s.

Issa – We learned new words.

Rida – We played.

We LOVED our time with the Jeely Piece on Thursday morning.

Issa – We were playing and it was so much fun.

 

Aarv – We were playing the frog and kangaroo game.
Talha – You had to get cones and if you had the most you won.
Rida – Amer is walking with the feet.
Lulu – Zainab is skipping. Amna – Miss Graham was also skipping.

Alizah – We played with the parachute. Abdulhadi – We were going under the parachute.

During  maths this week, we looked at position and movement.

Ask me about the trick to remember which side is my left hand side.

Deen – You use your hands to find an ‘L’.

We even used the Beebots, and we had some amazing Primary 6 helpers.

Abdulhadi – We were working with the Primary 6’s. We were playing with my big brother.
Jibraeel – We were playing with the beebots and learning how to move them.
M Abdullah – The Primary 6’s were giving us directions.
Inayah – We followed the instruction cards to help move the beebots.

We then looked at differently types of book when our amazing Primary 6 helpers were in.

Issa – We were cutting and sticking pictures of books.
Subhan – We stuck the pictures into fiction or non-fiction.

Lulu – Non-Fiction is telling you the truth.

Zayn – Fiction books are story books.

Subhan – Fiction books can be Peppa Pig or Jack and the Beanstock.

Talha – A non-fiction book could tell you about a fox.

Aarv – Non-Fiction books tell you the truth and can tell you how to do something.

Rida – We looked at fiction and non-fiction.

Our amazing Gold Star winner this week goes to… Deen! He has worked so hard this week!

Homework Videos

Here are the pupils from Primary 2 telling what we should be doing for homework each week.

On Monday’s we write our spelling words three times into our jotter. You can use the active spelling grid in the jotter to help.

On Tuesday’s, we then read our reading book with our adult and count to 50 in 1’s and 2’s.

On Wednesday’s, try to read your book to you adult and complete the maths task.

On Thursday’s, choose 3 of your spelling words and try to write sentences for them.

On a Tuesday and a Friday we have PE. Please bring a change of clothes for these days.

A Spooooky Week in Primary 2

We have had an amazing week in Primary 2.

We have been so busy learning new things.

We have been looking at patterns in Maths and we went out into the open area to see what we could use to make patterns.

Lulu – We were making patterns, using blocks and cubes.
Rida – The pattern is red, green, red, green. Lulu – It looks like Christmas colours.
RV – They are making patterns using blocks and building blocks.
Amna – Talha has made two patterns.

We then came into the class to see what else could be used.

Talha – The girls have a purple and red pattern.
Innayah – It’s a black and orange pattern. Ajwa – A patterns repeats the same things.
Abdullah – He was making patterns with the sticks using different colours.
Aarv – He is using different shapes and colours.
Subhan – We were making patterns, using bricks, lolly pop sticks and pom poms.
Innayah – This pattern is colours.

We then used the iPad to take our own photos of our patterns.

RV – This is mine and Talha’s colour pattern. Mines is the black and orange, and Talha’s is the red and yellow.
Talha – Subhan is using lolly sticks for his pattern.
Rida – Alvina has a green and yellow pattern.
Abdulhadi – I used the iPad to take the picture of my blocks.
Ismaeel – He has made a red and orange pattern.

On Wednesday Night, there was a Halloween Disco. We had so much fun and gave Miss Graham lots of frights!

M Abdullah – We dressed up for Halloween. Abdulhadi – We scared Miss Graham.
Amna – He is wearing a wig. Zainab – She is wearing a coloured zipper.
Amer – Deen and Rayyan were playing together.
Deen – Shahmir was a vampire and was so scary.

On Thursday, we had a class party and even got the dress Mrs Harker.

Rida – I was a princess., I felt very pretty.
Rida – The girls. Abdulhadi – Miss Graham was green.
Ranvir – I enjoyed the party.
Amer – We all dressed up and got a picture. Lulu and Abdulhadi – We all ate chocolate.
Ajwa – The teachers had a contest . Who had the best goblin walk.

Our Amazing Gold Star of the week goes to.. Innayah!
