School Uniform

Why is it important to wear a uniform?

In St Ninian’s RC Primary School we value all children wearing school uniform for a number of reasons.

  • When all children wear the same type of clothes they have a sense of identity and feel proud and committed to their school.
  • It reduces the differences between children, as well as cutting down isolation and bullying.
  • It is a cost-effective way to clothe children. The whole school uniform would cost the same as one designer sweatshirt.
  • With a dress code, it is easier to spot someone who does not belong in school as well as raising the school’s profile in the local community.

Our uniform can now be ordered online from My Clothing, just click on the link and the choose our school from the list using our postcode.

No minimum quantity – just buy what you need, when you need it.

5% cash donation for the school on every purchase

We are proud of our school colours, and are sure that the wearing of them adds a sense of pride and of responsibility to the wearer.

Notes

  1.       Trousers, skirts and pinafores should be grey or black.
  2.       Jeans and denim jackets and/or T-shirts are not suitable during        the school day.
  3.       Shoes should be ‘sensible’. For reasons of safety they should               have flat heels. It is also important for health and safety                       reasons that shoes worn outdoors must not be worn in the                 gymnasium. A student who wears “trainers” outdoors must               have a pair of gym shoes for Physical Education.
  4.        No student should be sent to school wearing clothes which               are unacceptable in respect of hygiene and/or decay.

Gym Kit

  • T-shirt not vest tops
  • Shorts
  • Gym Shoes

Please note that for health and safety reasons it is important that your child wears no jewellery on the days that they have PE.

Art/Craft

  • Old large shirt or plastic cover-all with sleeves

Please label all your child’s clothes so they can be easily identifiable.

Children are not allowed to wear football tops at anytime in school. It gives a poor impression of the school and causes difficulties between children with different favourites.

School children should be sent to school in clothes, shoes and jewellery with safety in mind at all times. Additional consideration should be given to our very changeable weather conditions.

School ties are available at the school office for £3.50
