School Day

The School Day at Parkhill Primary School

At Parkhill Primary School, we create a calm, structured and engaging daily rhythm that supports every child’s learning, wellbeing and development. Our school day is designed to balance focused learning time with opportunities for play, creativity and social interaction.

Start of the Day – 9:00am

Children arrive ready to learn, greeted by their teachers as they settle into morning routines. The first learning session of the day begins promptly at 9:00am, when pupils enjoy high-quality teaching in a warm and welcoming environment.

Morning Break – 10:40am to 10:55am

Our morning break gives pupils the chance to recharge, enjoy fresh air and play with friends. This short break helps children return to their lessons feeling energised and ready to continue their learning.

Lunch – 12:35pm to 1:20pm

Lunch is an important part of our school day. Children enjoy a healthy meal and time outside, building friendships and engaging in active play. Staff are on hand to support pupils and ensure lunchtime is safe, positive and enjoyable for everyone.

Afternoon Learning – 1:20pm onwards

Pupils return to their classrooms for an afternoon of engaging and varied learning activities. This session often includes creative curriculum subjects such as art, PE, computing or topic work, helping children develop a rich and balanced set of skills.

End of the School Day – 3:00pm

The school day finishes at 3:00pm. Teachers ensure pupils are safely dismissed to families or carers, and after-school clubs may be available for those taking part in extended activities.
