Class winners in the Math’s S1 Christmas Sumdog Challenge were Dane Johnstone, Samantha Ellis, Ava Fairfield, Sean Hirst, Scott Downie, Peter Duncan, Jamie Stephen and Shane Edmonds.
A special mention for Ellie Adamson and Niamh Gilchrist-Brown who achieved the “Highest score” and “Highest accuracy” respectively.
Well done to the large numbers of pupils who took part in the challenge and scored some very high results!
Our Captains Team delivered Study Skills Workshops to S4 pupils and their parents last week in preparation for the Summative Assessment and final SQA exam diets.
The workshops covered the essential skills necessary for supporting National courses. The Captains Team looked at study techniques, using Outlook calendars to plan for deadlines and revision, and learning styles.

There is less than one month left to apply for a place on the Sutton Trust’s Summer School running at the University of St Andrews between 30th June – 5th July. S5 pupils have the chance to experience life as a student at university.

Just a reminder that SCHOLAR are running weekly online sessions to support STEM, Languages and English subjects at National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher level. The recordings can be viewed via the SCHOLAR Online Tutor Sessions page; pupils can log in as a “guest”.
To access the bank of support materials – e.g. course notes, recordings, worksheets, revision materials – pupils must log into SCHOLAR with their SCHOLAR account details. SCHOLAR details can be requested from class teachers and/or the LRC.
Following the completion of the ‘mock’ course choice process and an analysis of the preferred options for the current S3 year group a final offer of courses has been created. Consequently some young people will be disappointed, however, this final offer represents the ‘best fit’ offer for the highest percentage satisfaction of pupil choices and viable classes in S4 next session.

Pupils entering S4 in Session 2019-2020 should now select their recommended English and Mathematics choice from each of the first two options available and then their five further choices plus a reserve choice in order of preference.
Course Counselling takes place on Monday, 11th February for current S3 pupils and the system will remain live throughout this time. Appointment times will be posted outside the Guidance Office, in the Dining Hall and in the Assembly Hall
next week and pupils should look out for these going up.
Any incomplete choices will be completed at course counselling and, if changes to pupil choices are necessary following discussions with the Guidance Team and Curriculum Leaders, these will be confirmed to parents/carers by email.
