Welcome to Aberdour Primary School!
We hope that you will find it easy to navigate and that you find the information that you are looking for.
The school has an open door policy and we are a friendly village school so if you have any further questions or require more information please get in touch.
Aberdour Primary opened in 1967. It is a two-storey building with accommodation for seven classes and a nursery. There is a music room upstairs and a stage in the gym/dining hall, used for regular productions from within the school and the local community.
We are well located for outdoor education opportunities. There is a large grassed area for the children to enjoy, with a trim trail, which was the result of a Lottery Grant. The Eco work of the school and outdoor learning are priorities, and we work closely with Village in Bloom (currently Aberdour is awarded Gold!). Each class has its own ‘planter’ in the school garden where they plant and harvest vegetables and herbs. The school grounds are also home to a wildlife garden and a wooded area with two ponds. The Nursery children spend regular time in our woodlands for ‘Forest Kindergarten’ and on Silver Sands beach.
The school is situated in the village of Aberdour and supports children from the village and surrounding farms. A number of children attend Aberdour through parental choice.
Aberdour village dates back to medieval times and enjoys a lively, cultural community with rich heritage. The school is privileged to have developed close links with Historic Scotland and Aberdour Castle, St Fillan’s Parish church, Silver Sands and Black Sands beaches, Village in Bloom Committee, Humbie Park developments, Aberdour Cultural Association, Aberdour Festival Committee and the Victorian ‘Aberdour Station’.
