P5N Egyptian Art!

We have been doing lots of Egyptian art.  We made sarcophaguses and decorated them.  I used glitter and sequins to make it look fancy for a pharaoh.  Then we made mummies out of modroc.  It was messy
and fun.  They look really cool like Tutankhamen’s. We made sand jars and painted them to look Egyptian.  We also made our own
canopic jars.  The Egyptians used these to put organs in like the stomach, liver, lungs and intestines.

Science Week

We did lots of experiments and investigations duringscience week.  It was really fun trying all the different things.  I liked the rocket mice.  We had a challenge in the class to see whose mouse would go the highest.  We learned it depended where you hit the milk bottle and how hard you hit it.  We thought the smaller milk cartons worked best.  We tried some explosion experiments outside but they didn’t really work.  We used bicarbonate of soda and fizzy tablets.  Nicole and Teegan

Tree Planting

On Monday 19th March each person in the school will be planting a tree.  The kind of trees are hawthron, birch, hazel, oak, rowan and blackthorn.  The kind of equipment we be using are shovels, rakes and spades.  We are doing this to celebrate the Queens jubilee.  Our trees are coming from The Woodland Trust.  Jordan

P5N visit FHS!

On Wednesday 14th March we went to Falkirk High School to visit biology.  Mr Stewart was with us and he was teaching us.  Christine from CATCA came along too to see what we were learning about.  We looked  at some of the creatures that our brown trout are going to be eating now they are living in the river.  We looked at them with 10x power microscopes.  It was scary looking at some of the insects as they looked huge!  Shakira
