Dollar Park Trip

On Wednesday 20th June Primary 5N and Primary 5Mac went to Dollar Park to see the tennis finals!  We were invited along by Kirsty Humphries who was teaching us how to play tennis.  We walked along from our school and it was a lovely sunny day.  It was nice watching the other schools play tennis and we enjoyed playing rounders and at the park.  The winning school got to do a lap round the court with a real Olympic torch! We asked the torch bearer if we could get a picture and he said yes!  It was cool seeing a real torch!  🙂  After lunch we got a chance to play tennis ourselves on the courts.  It was a great day out!

Potatoes!

On Wednesday 13th June P5N potatoes ate the potatoes that we have been growing for many weeks. A couple of people in our class went up to the staff room to clean them. After that they put it a pot to boil for us to eat, because there was only small potatoes not big ones so we couldn’t make baked potatoes. After that we ate them. It was yummy and really good I enjoyed it .  Jordan

Library Trip!

On Tuesday 8th May primary 5n and primary 5mac went to the library in Falkirk.  We walked all the way there from school.  It took us 40 minutes.

There were books from 1890 and there was a map that was from 1890 and our school was on it and a roman camp. There were three groups and group 1 went up the stairs, group 2 went with the lady to look at more books and group 3 stayed down the stairs. we all swapped around and we got to scan the books and look at very old maps.  It was fun except the walking.

Brown Trout Presentation!

On Monday 30th April 5 members of P5N went to talk about the trout that we were looking after. The 5 members were Nicole, Shakira, Grant, Blair and Kellie. We went to camelon education centre to do the presentation.  we had to do a presentation and there were loads of goodies to eat. We all got a pencil case each and the girls got  2 pencils and a pen and the boys got a glue stick. It was fun and after a few presentations we got to eat droughts and loads of sweets and Pepsi. I hope they keep on doing it because it is a opportunity to look after brown trout. We also got a certificate.

Directions

In maths with Miss Nichol we have been learning about directions.  We were finding it hard using the text books so we decided to make our own maps.  We measured out the grids onto big sheets of paper and made sure we divided up the boxes equally.    Then we created themes for our maps.  In the class we had a skate park, a zoo, a town centre and a larger town.  We then made 3D models to move around the board and follow the directions from the different groups.  It was great fun.

Mummify an apple!

We have been learning about Egyptian mummification and decided to try an experiment.  We have mummified apples!  We covered our apples in salt and baking soda and put them in Miss Nichol’s cupboard.  We are going to check on them in a week.  We predict that they will have stayed the same because the salt and baking soda will have kept them the same.  We will post our results soon!
