Maths – Measure

Our maths class went out to measure stuff like the outdoor classroom and the tarmac. We used a trundle wheel and we also went in the hall and measured the piano and the pick ‘n’ mix tables. We then went and worked out the measure and height in our math class it was really confusing. When we figured out the answers we then went back to our own class and that day was really fun.

Maths – Volume

Our maths class went outside to measure water in all different jugs. We made a mess with all the water we all had different challenges. Our first challenge was to measure what was in the bucket. Our second challenge was how many cups we could fill with water out of 2000 ml. our third challenge was to find out how much water could go in a small bottle.

Science Week in Primary 4

In Primary 4 we made hovercraft out of an old CD, a sports cap and a balloon.  We tested them on different surfaces.  I tested mine on water and it floated for a bit, but when the air was out it sank.  It worked the best on the lino because it was smooth and not too rough.

We made balloon racers from balloons, straws, bottles and junk.  The balloon was going to power the cars.  We had a race with Primary 7, to see whose went the furthest.  Aidan won for P7 and me and Shannyn won for P4.  We worked hard on our racer and had fun racing them.

In Science we made Rocket Mice.  We got a piece of paper and cut it into a cone shape.  We got a bottle put the mouse on the bottle, hit our hands against the bottle and made the mouse fly.  We tested different types of bottle to see which made the mouse fly highest.  We found out that the big fizzy juice bottle was the best.  We then got to decorate our mice too.

P4 visit Stirling University

On Wednesday 14th March, Primary 4 (and a few stowaway P5s) went to Stirling University to give a lecture on Moving Image.  We talked to students about how we use animation in the classroom and why it is a good thing to do.

Before that, we had lunch at the MacRobert Centre and a tour of the different spaces they have there.  We all had a great time, although we were a bit nervous about speaking to a lot of students!

You can see some of our animations here.

Guitar Hero – Syndicate

P7 have been doing guitar hero because it links with our topic, jobs and careers. We have made our band managers and we have signed a band contract.  We have played the guitar hero game.  We made the band names and my band is called Syndicate.  Our band manger is called Jamie and we had to research a new instrument for our band.  We did a keyboard.  Our first gig is at O2 Arena at 10 o’clock to 7 o’clock in the morning, we hope you enjoy it.
