Ceol gu leor/ Music

Tha sinn air a bhith ag ionnsachadh mu dheidhinn ruitheaman ann an ceol. Seo sinn a’ leantainn notaichean ceol a’ cleachdadh ionstramaidean le dath sonraichte airson gach not. ‘S e doigh sporsail agus math a tha seo a bhith ag ionnsachadh ainmean na notaichean agus abair gu bheil a chlann air a bhith ceolmhor!

Environment Topic/ Topaig Arrainneachd

An-diugh bha sinn a’ dèanamh obair topaig. (An Àrrainneachd)

Bha sinn ag ionnsachadh ciamar a choimheadas sinn as dèidh an àrrainneachd le bhith ag ath-chuartachadh.

Bha again ri stuthan a’ chuir dhan am ‘bin’ ceart agus bhruidhinn sinn agus choimhead sinn bhideo mu dè a dh’fhaodadh sinn a dhèanamh le stuthan dealan.

Outdoor Learning

Leis gu robh an aimsir cho breagha bho chionn ghoirid bha sinn airson a bhith a-muigh ag ionnsachadh.

Rinn sinn litreachadh a-muigh agus bha sinn ag ionnsachadh mu dheidhinn ar 5 mothaichean.

We’ve been taking advantage of the lovely weather recently an taken our learning outside!

We were practicing our common words and we were learning about our 5 senses.

Horshader -Seachdain 4/Week 4

This week we saw lots of progress with our plants. We found some of the strawberries had ripened and collected them to take back with us. We can confirm they were delicious! John Kenneth said “They are tastier than the ones you buy in the supermarket!”

The lettuce we planted a few weeks ago has now been sent home and is ready to be out into a bigger pot…although there was very little lettuce left on some of them because one taste just wasn’t enough!

We also replanted our sunflowers into bigger pots and Charlotte said “You need a piece of Bamboo to support the sunflower so that it doesn’t fall.”

When speaking about our trip the children were able to tell me that if you move some plants into a bigger pot – it allows them to grow bigger!

Chunnaic sinn tòrr adhartas nuair a chaidh sinn gu Horshader an t-seachdain sa. Lorg sinn Sùbh-Làran a bha deiseil airson an ith- mmmmm bha iad Blasta!

Thuir John Kenneth “ Tha iad nas blasta nan a sùbh-laran a bhios tu a’ ceannach anns a’ bhùth!”

Chuir sinn dhachaigh a’ leatas a chuir sinn bho chionn dhà no thrì seachdainean agus tha sin a-nis deiseil airson a chuir ann am poit nas motha. Bha cuid dhiubh caran lom a’ dol dhachaigh ge-tà… cha robh aon bhlas gu leòr dha feadhainn!

Chuir sinn na flùraichean-grèine ann am poitean nas motha. Thuirt Charlotte “ Feumaidh tu pìos Bambù gus nach tuit am flùr.”

Nuair a bhruidhinn sinn mun an turas bha a’ chlann ag innse dhomh ma ghluaiseas tu cuid de lusan gu poit nas motha gum faigh iad an cothrom fàs nas motha.

Literacy based play

Gach seachdain/cola-deug, bidh sinn a taghadh sgeulachd mar chlas.

Bidh sinn ga leughadh neo ag èisteachd ris gach latha airson ar cuideachadh a bhith ag ionnsachadh briathrachas ùr. Tha sinn an uair sin a faighinn cothromon a bhith a cleachdadh na facail ùr sin ann an diofar dòighean. Chì sibh gu h-ìosal gu bheil sinn air tòiseachadh a’ leughadh ‘A’ chearc Bheag Ruadh.’ Gheibh sibh aon dè na dreuchdan dhen a’ sgeulachd seo air http://sgeulachdan.scot/ ma tha sibh airson èisteachd ris aig an taigh.

Every week or fortnight we choose a story to focus on as a class.

We read/listen to the story each day, to help improve our Gaelic Vocabulary. We then have follow-up activities based on the story, you will see below that we are currently reading ‘The little Red Hen’ and so the activity was to explore different materials used in the story. You can listen to a version of the story on http://sgeulachdan.scot/

In this activity they are using their imaginations, fine motor skills, problem solving, sharing, communicating, weighing ingredients and many more skills through play. The older classes will usually have a written task to complete based on the story but also enjoy opportunities to use the materials for imaginative play.

You would also have seen at our sharing assembly that we sometimes learn to re-tell the story using Makaton sign language which the children engage very well with.

Here are some of the activities from our previous story, Jack and the beanstalk.

Generation Science Visit

Primary 1-3 had a visit from a ‘Generation Science’ group this morning. It worked in perfectly with the work we have been doing on Bees.

The children got to see a Beehive and learnt about the different parts of it. The Queen bee lives in the bottom section and the top section is where they store their food. The Beekeeper uses a bee hive smoker to calm the bees down before they can collect honey. Once they have collected the honey they give the bees sugary water instead – which the Bees love!

As you will see from the photos the children had the opportunities to be bees during the workshop and had to identify what they could smell from the flowers.

They were also able to name the different parts of the bee for example the Thorax, abdomen and stinger!

The children were also taught that bees can see colours that we can’t! For example we can see a red flower but a bee can see that same flower in ultraviolet

Horshader Week 3

An t-seachdain sa aig Horshader, chunnaic sinn cho àrd ‘s a bha na flùirichean grèine againn air fàs bho chuir sinn iad ro na làithean-saora.

Chuir sinn pònair-ruith agus bha sinne den bheachd gu robh iad coltach ri pònairean seunta a bh’aig Seoc anns a’ sgeulachd againn.

Chaidh sinn an uair sin a-mach agus chuir sinn uinnean  agus dh’uisgich sinn iad.

_________________________________________________________________________

This week at Horshader, we were amazed at how tall our sunflowers had grown since we planted them before the holidays.

We then planted some runner beans and some of us thought they looked extremely like Jack and the Beanstalk beans!

We then went outside and planted some onions and finished off by watering them.
