A big thank you to Alba FA for hosting a group of our young people for Gaelic football sessions. Our young people had a blast and really enjoyed learning from the team and using their Gaelic outwith the class!

Uist Wool

Anns an Dàmhair, thadhail sgoilearan S2 Luchd-ionnsachaidh air Uist Wool ann an Griomasaigh. B’ e turas air leth inntinneach a bh’ ann. Chunnaic na sgoilearan mar a tha an uidheamachd ag obair agus fhuair iad an cothrom tòrr cheistean a chur air an luchd- obrach.

As part of Heritage Careers Week, the S2 Gaelic Learners class enjoyed a site visit to Uist Wool. Pupils were taken on a tour of the mill and wool centre, learning about the various processing stages of the yarn and wool products. Pupils got to see all the machinery in action, some of which dated back to the 19th century! Inspired by the rich history of the industry, pupils learned about how Uist Wool embraces traditional working methods to create their products, honouring local heritage. With their strong commitment to the local community, pupils also learned about how the mill works collaboratively with local crofters to buy their wool. Pupils had the opportunity to ask questions about the various job roles available within the organisation, which sparked a strong interest in the possibility of work placements!

Chuir sinn fàilte air Dr June Graham bho Oilthigh Dhùn Èideann anns an t-Samhain. Ghabh 18 sgoilearan Gàidhlig pàirt ann an rannsachadh a tha i a’ dèanamh. Tha na sgoilearan a ghabh pàirt rim moladh gu mòr.

In November, we welcomed Dr June Graham from the University of Edinburgh who was conducting research for an important study about Gaelic. Eighteen pupils from across a range of year groups took part in the research. We are honoured to have been selected to take part in this study. Dr Graham commended all the pupils who took part for the exemplary manner in which they conducted themselves.
