Miss McFlynn 🙂
Last week we took our learning outdoors. We have been learning about measure in numeracy and mathematics and have been using different materials to measure with. Last week we used materials that could be found outside to measure the length of parts of our bodies. We used things like sticks, stones and leaves.
Ask us about our findings :)!
Well done to our 2 Star Pupil’s from the past couple of weeks. We are all super proud of you!
All children have now been issued with their homework folders. Below is homework guidance for this week:
Numeracy homework has been assigned on Education City. All children have their log in details in their homework folders.
If you have any questions please ask.
Miss McFlynn 🙂
We have been loving our first week back at school so far! We have enjoyed playing and learning in our new classroom, the atrium and outdoors.
We went outside with primary 2a to use the amazing new equipment we have now. We worked togther and used our imaginations to build den’s, pirate ships, boats and created pictures using different wooden materials. We had so much fun!
We also started creating our class charter. We spoke about our rights and also our ‘needs’ and ‘wants’. In pairs we worked together to decide what was very important, quite important and not important in life. We then sorted these into needs and wants.
We have also enjoyed using the new atrium. We have been showing the new P1’s how to play with all the toys and equipment.
We are all so excited for the year ahead and cant wait to learn lots more in Primary 2!
Miss McFlynn and P2b 🙂
With one week to go before Primary 2 return to school, we would encourage you to take some time to label your children’s clothes, shoes, lunch boxes and school bags.
P2 will be putting on a French tuck shop for P1 and P2 on Monday for French day. Children are welcome to bring 50p to school to buy from the tuck shop at playtime. Merci!
P1b didn’t let sports day being cancelled get them down! We had some races in the hall this morning…
And then we went outside to play before the rain came on!
Some wonderful child led learning has been going on in P1b this morning!
Amelia, Millie and Monroe have been using the cubes to make their names. They have been counting out the cubes that they need for the sides of each letter and making sure that they are equal. They have been sharing out cubes between them and supporting each other in creating the shapes that they need!
Harry and Jason have been working together to use the Lego to create an amazing Batman cave!
Lauren and Logan have been talking about recycling and they have been role playing collecting rubbish for the dump and separating it into the correct categories.
Chloe set up a colouring club and she invited other children to come and make patterns with her using different colours and shapes. Dylan came to work with her and together they were very crafty!
Millie and Sienna have been collecting, counting and ordering the keys.
Ben was pretending to be Allan’s pet tortoise! Allan found a carrot to feed him because Ben told him that tortoises are vegetarian so he couldn’t eat any meat!
Cieran and Ruan made lots of lovely St Mark’s memories for Mrs Fitzsimmons to take with her to her new school!
Eilidh and Aspen-Hope made a lovely picture for Eilidh’s dad who isn’t feeling very well. We hope he feels better soon!
Jamie, Libby, Ben and Allan made up an alphabet game to play together. They passed the apple around and had to say the right letter of the alphabet. What a tricky game!
Liam drew around and decorated his hand in different patterns and Hannah was very crafty and made some beautiful love hearts to frame her picture!
What a busy and productive morning in P1!
Well today marked our very first St Mark’s Bookbug session! Bookbug Bootcamp combined lots of songs, rhymes and a story with exercise and we loved it! We were luck enough to have an extra special guest as our session today, Bookbug came to join in the fun which was so exciting! Thank you so much to all of Primary 1 and 2 and their teachers and of course thank you so much to the families who came to join us, your support and your feedback is hugely appreciated!
