Taking part in a maths week Scotland challenge to build the tallest tower using spaghetti and marshmallows.

 

Well done to Libby, Liam, Benjamin and Jamie for successfully making the tallest free standing tower 👏.

Afterwards we used to marshmallows and spaghetti to make models of 3d objects, this helped us to identify how many vertices and edges each shape had.

 

 

Using the loose parts to create an obstacle course and cross from one side of the playground to the other.

We worked on our team building, problem solving and communication skills 😊.

In class we were learning about why the river Nile was important for the Egyptians.

 

Ancient Egyptians made their own paper called papyrus which they made from plants that grew at the side of the river Nile.

We got to look at some papyrus paper and feel the texture.

Developing our number skills by using numeracy blueprints 😊.

We used these to help with place value, counting and answering addition and subtraction calculations.

Well done to those who took part in the summer reading challenge 👏. Lots of keen readers in P5b 😁

 

Thank you to Joshua for bringing in his world atlas from home to let us use it in class. We looked for the UK on the map and then located Egypt!

In RE we read the story of creation from the Bible. We then discussed our God given talents and created a display for our classroom :-).

This week we have been using the process ASK, IMAGINE, CREATE and IMPROVE  –

P5 had a day of reading today, they brought in a book from home to share with the rest of the class and then had the opportunity to discuss their favourite books, authors and genres with other pupils across the stage 😄.

P5b had lots of fun den building during Outdoor Learning this week.
