Burns Day Ceilidh

P5 had an amazing time at their Burns Day Ceilidh. Here are some videos of the Scottish Country dancing we have been learning in PE in preparation for the event 😊 but I think everyone’s favourite part was getting the eat the yummy Scottish tiffin that we made in class especially for the occasion 🤤

Family Interviews

A huge thank you to Benjamin’s mum and dad for coming in to speak to us today. The children loved being able to ask questions to find out about their experiences of moving to Scotland.

Parent Interviews

Hi Parents/Carers,

Building on from the personal identity research that the children have been given for homework, we would love to invite some parent’s/carers/grandparents into the school in the next few weeks to be interviewed by the children. We’d value your help in enhancing the childrens’ understanding of some of the themes we will tackle within our class novel ‘The Boy at the Back of the Class.’ The book explores issues of diversity/identity and the children would really benefit from hearing about first-hand experiences of people/families that have moved to Scotland within the past couple of generations.

The pupils will prepare questions, so there is no expectation that you would need to present anything on the day. The interview with the children can last as long as suits the individual but probably no more than 45 minutes. If you feel that you are able to contribute your personal experiences within this interviewing project, please see the Google Form attached and note down day/times that suit. From the responses, we will try and invite as many of you in as we can in separate slots. Responses welcomed by Friday 13th January.

Merry Christmas from P5b 🎄

I hope that everyone has a fantastic Christmas and a happy new year 🥳 see you all in January ❤️🎄🎅xx

Christmas fun

A little update to share some of the final week of school activities before the Christmas holidays 🎅.

Lena and Hannah worked hard to create a canvas with lots of interesting Egyptian facts, well done girls, I’m glad to see the Egyptians topic still of interest to you both now that we are finished with it 👏.

We made Christmas decorations with tables facts on them to help us remember our time stables 😊.

We watched a draw along tutorial about how to draw the grinches hand and then coloured it and added our own special effects 🌲.

Lego Challenge

Today we took part in a Lego challenge where we had to work in teams to construct a 10cm high bridge to transport 2 toy cars to get around the river. It was really tricky and involved communication skills, problem solving and creativity.

4 teams successfully completed the mission in the time frame of 1 hour. Lots of perseverance was needed for this challenge and all of the teams did a wonderful job ⭐️.

Cosy Christmas Read

We enjoyed our cosy Christmas read along this afternoon 😊.

We played book bingo and listened to the first few pages of a mystery wrapped book. The challenge was then to design a front cover for the book based on the information we had heard. So many amazing front covers were created with all the key information 📚.

Ficshy Music Workshop

P5 had such an amazing time at the Ficshy Music concert on Tuesday, here are some pictures and videos of some of the singing and dancing 💃.

Library Visit

P5b had a visit to the Foundry this afternoon. The children loved having a look at the fiction and non-fiction books on offer and then got to pick one to borrow 📚.
