A great first session at forest school this morning π³.
P5 enjoyed an input from the STEM leaders as part of British STEM week. The theme is connections and the pupils were tasked with a challenge to make a floating boat π€.
The children worked in teams to plan their design and then tested them out in the water tray, this was a success π.
A huge well done to the children that are members of the Barrhead Youth Football Team. They were presented with their participation trophies at the weekend for all of their amazing efforts π.
We are all super proud of your hard work and are so glad you brought these trophies in to share with the class for βShow and Tellβ π.
Today we were experimenting with forces. We learned about push, pull, motion, friction and gravity. We used Newton Balance scales to measure gravitational pull and the impact of friction.

P5 and 6 had a visit from author Teresa Breslin today in preparation for World Book Day π. The children asked so many insightful questions and we were very lucky to find out about Teresaβs newest book! She even shared her top writing tips for young writers βοΈ
We have been learning about energy sources and how they can transfer from one energy type to another. We have gone on energy hunts, learned about the pros and cons of renewable and non renewable energy and designed posters to help protect our planet. Here is some of our work.
P5b were challenged with a loose parts task to create a mini golf course! The children worked in groups to collaborate before we then went around testing each of the courses, all of them were a big success πβ
We have conducted the last of our parent interviews and want to say a huge thank you to Mrs Dziobek and Lena for coming into the school to share their stories and be interviewed by the children. P5 have learned so much from this experience π«.
