p7 enjoyed using the Kapla this afternoon. We had lots of different ideas such as towers, bridges and pyramids!
Stay tuned as throughout this year pupils will be updating the blog with the learning that is taken place.

This week it is British STEM Week. We were very lucky to have some of our peers, the STEM Leaders, present a lesson to the class.
The theme this year is time. We identified different ways that time relates to STEM; evolution, space, seasons, technology progressions and life spans.
As part of the activity led by the STEM leaders, we worked collaboratively to build a model car. We used our maths knowledge of the speed, distance, time triangle to calculate the speed of the car going down a ramp.
We started our day off by participating in the ‘World Book Day Premier Takeover’ quiz led by the incredible author Ben Lyttleton and tik tok teacher influencer Kit Brown. We found the questions quite challenging but we learned lots.
We then took part in the Masked Reader activity, where teachers read books in disguise and we had to guess which teacher was reading. It was good fun and we found it funny trying to distinguish the voices of the teachers.
After break, we went outside to take part in a treasure hunt. We had to use book and author knowledge and our problem solving skills to crack the code in the right order. We really enjoyed it and have expanded our book knowledge!
Today we have been learning Mandarin as part of our IDL topic. We practised having conversations with our friends and we learned how to greet each other, it was great fun!
Today we were challenged with designing and making a building of our choice. Some fabulous ideas. Well done everyone.
This week P6 took part in the official KNEX challenge. Children were tasked with designing and creating a bridge that had height, could hold the weight of a textbook and was 50cm long! They demonstrated great collaboration skills and engineering mindsets!
Take a look at our creations below and the winner will be announced on Monday!
This week P6 have been preparing for the Knex Challenge. We looked at the engineering design process and discussed the importance of reflecting on and improving our creations. We also used our meta skills!
Benjamin – “We felt ‘knected’ using KNEX.”
Logan – “ We had to communicate and collaborate in pairs and groups.”
Millie – “ We used our imagination and creativity!”
Chloe – “ We used problem solving and critical thinking skills.”
During our indoor P.E session, we had lots of fun carrying out a variety of physical activities. We used our numeracy skills to participate and complete each activity. It was so much fun!
During maths, we have been working together to multiply decimal fractions using chalk pens. We had lots of fun!!
At the beginning of our maths lesson, we developed our mental maths strategies using number talks. We are enjoying using a range of mental strategies to find the correct answer.
