The circles have been learning to identify the features of 3d objects, they constructed models using blue tack and spaghetti and counted the edges and vertices of objects 😊.

  

Today we have been testing what sinks and what floats and investigating buoyancy.

 

A great first session at forest school this morning 🌳.

 

P5 enjoyed an input from the STEM leaders as part of British STEM week. The theme is connections and the pupils were tasked with a challenge to make a floating boat 🚤.

The children worked in teams to plan their design and then tested them out in the water tray, this was a success 😊.

A huge well done to the children that are members of the Barrhead Youth Football Team. They were presented with their participation trophies at the weekend for all of their amazing efforts 🏆.

We are all super proud of your hard work and are so glad you brought these trophies in to share with the class for ‘Show and Tell’ 👏.

Today we were experimenting with forces. We learned about push, pull, motion, friction and gravity. We used Newton Balance scales to measure gravitational pull and the impact of friction.

 

P5b have been learning about climate change as part of fair trade fortnight.

We learned about two different climates and how they are important for the growth of different plants.

We made posters with the heading ‘Tropical Rain forest Climate’ and ‘Temperate Climate’ and had to sort which fruits would grow in each kind of climate and identify the different types of weather in each climate.

We worked in teams to do this task :-).
