Uniform Update

Several people have asked whether the grey tartan pinafore dresses, worn by some pupils at Mearns Primary, would be suitable also for Maidenhill. Having seen these dresses alongside Maidenhill’s other uniform items, it has been agreed that Maidenhill pupils would be welcome to wear these if they wish until at least such time that our uniform policy is reviewed during the course of next session.

Local community members have asked us to publicise a Maidenhill Family Fun Day to be held at Newton Mearns Baptist Church on Sat Aug 17. The event is free but parents are asked to register on the link below to indicate numbers:

Open Afternoon

Just a reminder that all new Maidenhill children and parents are invited to an open afternoon on Friday August 16, 2.00pm-4.30pm (last entry 4.10pm). This will allow everyone to see our new building for the first time and will let children meet key staff before the term starts at 8.55am on Monday August 19. We look forward to seeing you there. Bank Holiday May 2020

We have just heard that the UK Government has decided to move the May Bank Holiday from Monday May 4 to Friday May 8. This is to coincide with planned celebrations to commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE Day. Week beginning Monday 4 May 2020 will now run as follows:

Monday 4 May 2020               School and nursery class open

Tuesday 5 May 2020               School and nursery class open

Wednesday 6 May 2020         School and nursery class open

Thursday 7 May 2020             INSET

Friday 8 May 2020                  Public Holiday

 

In addition, Tuesday 26 May 2020 has also been designated as an INSET day.

Thank you to all those who responded to our survey on the structure of the school day. Following an analysis of the results and further discussion at the parent information evening on June 11, the following hours have been decide upon:

 

School starts: 8.55am

Morning interval: 10.35-10.50am

Lunch: 12.30- 1.20pm

School day ends: 3.00pm

Paperwork Drop-in Sessions


Mrs Annie Fraser, Maidenhill’s Senior Business Support Assistant, will be at Mearns Primary School on the 17th and 18th of June between 2pm and 4pm, to collect any paperwork which you have to hand in prior to your child starting nursery or school in August. The parents/carers of pupils starting in the nursery are also required to bring along proofs to be checked – child’s birth certificate and two forms of address identification e.g. council tax statement, mortgage statement/rental agreement/utility bill.

Congratulations to Mrs Dyan Spence who was appointed this week as Senior Child Development Officer for our nursery class. Mrs Spence is currently a CDO at Glen Family Centre and will bring considerable experience to this leadership post. We wish her well.
