We’ve had a busy few weeks here in Primary 6B and we have lots of exciting things to look forward to this year.

This term we started outdoor learning with Miss Crook, where we will be learning about measure. What a difference a week makes, as you can see from the pictures below!

We have also been learning about the Victorian artist, William Morris, and using his technique of repetition by drawing and tracing.

In Science, we have started a topic on senses. We focused on our sense of touch and tried to guess what different objects were, just by feeling them!

We’ve had another busy few weeks in Primary 6B!

Last week we managed to plant some new trees in the snow, our excellent volunteers helped us raise £36 at the Christmas fayre  and we had lots of colourful and interesting hair styles for crazy hair day!

This week we have been very busy with the Christmas concert and both P6 classes sang beautifully on stage. Well done Primary 6! Reverend Fiona was so impressed with our song The Gift that she has asked if we would sing it at the Christmas church service. We are all very flattered and proud to be asked 🙂

Yesterday,  we were also lucky enough to go to Mearns Baptist Church to take part in the Adventure Trail. We took part in a quiz, listened to  different bible stories, watched a drama, made some crafts and even got a lovely cake! Thank so much to everybody involved, we all had a fantastic day. Zara even got an extra special cake since it was her birthday 🙂

This week we began our new topic: The Victorians. We started by  looking at Queen Victoria. Next, we watched some videos about lady called Maggie Johnston, who shared her diary entries from when she was a young girl in the Victorian era. We have started comparing and contrasting her life with our own. It’s very different!

Steven said ” I enjoyed watching the Victorian diaries.”

This week we also had a class trip to the library which was lots of fun. We had a mini tour, took part in a quiz and got to choose a book. Hayley and Zara said “I enjoyed doing the quiz and taking a tour of the library.”

We also completed our firework art using crayons. They look fantastic! Ross B said “It was fun, you got to colour stuff in and make fireworks.”

This week we also delivered our RME presentations which we had been working on for a few weeks. Everybody did very well and Mr Bonnar even popped down to watch them. He was very impressed with the posters and the presentations (check out some of the pictures on twitter)

Erin said “I enjoyed the RME presentation and being able to peer assess.”

Finally, we rounded off the week with assembly where the Pupil Council delivered an excellent section on Remembrance Day. Ava said “I liked taking part in the assembly and reading a poem.”

Primary 6B were extremely lucky this week because we had a special visitor, Mrs Miller, who visited our class from the Scottish Parliament. We got to take part in an interactive quiz, create our own parties and have a lively debate. Check out some of our pictures! 🙂

Iona said “I liked being the Presiding Officer because it was fun!”

Sam agreed stating “I liked the debating bit because you got to hear each others answers.”

We loved hearing all of the Reading Challenge interviews from our family members. The BFG, Little Women and the Famous Five books were the most popular from our parents, guardians and grandparents. A special thank you to Zara’s gran for her excellent interview!

Primary 6B have had another busy week.

On Wednesday the gym hall was out of use and it was raining outside so we decided to take part in some dancing in the class! We moved the tables so we had lots of space to show off our best moves. Primary 6B is FULL of fantastic dancers and everybody worked hard and worked up a sweat.

During RME, the class made  great progress with their group posters and presentations. Some groups were getting very creative by using different art resources to make their poster stand out! Max said “I can’t wait to finish the RME poster. They’re fun.”

This week we also made some rosettes, representing all the Scottish political parties. Zara said “We made rosettes on different parties. It’s fun. Hayley and I did Labour.”

We have been learning lots of new facts about the Scottish Parliament and today we  have been discussing the difference between reserved and devolved matters.

A big well done to Lia and Sonia who won the class vote for best French poster. Both girls got a chocolate bar, notebook and pencil. Thank you to Mrs Allen for providing these super prizes!

Sonia said “It was exciting because we won it. I felt really happy.”

Lia added “I was amazed that 12 people voted for us!”

Even though we only had four days of school this week, we’ve all been extremely busy!

We kicked of the week with our European Day of Languages assembly. Primary 6B have been working hard with Mrs Allen and they had super posters to display and wonderful French songs to sing. Amyleigh said ” I liked learning about different European languages.”

Also, this week we started our RME research topic where we are working in groups, researching more about four different religions. We are making posters and  preparing presentations to share in a few weeks time.

We have also been learning more about the Scottish Parliament during our social studies lessons. Ruby said “I enjoyed learning about all the political parties.”

Finally, to round of the week we took part in the sponsored bounce. Primary 6B raised over £170!! A special well done to Grace who brought in £100! Jamie and Ross C said “We loved the bouncy castle!”

We’ve had a great first few weeks in Primary 6 and have been taking part in lots of exciting activities!

This week we have been busy during Numeracy time as it’s Maths Week Scotland. We’ve been working in groups discussing the cost of our needs and wants, unlocking games online with Sumdog and rounding off the week with a fractions fiesta in the gym hall!

The pupils have also been taking part in different art activities over the past few weeks including self-esteem art and using chalk to create a picture of the Northern Lights.

Tyeghyn “Fractions fiesta was really fun and we got to learn new things”

Ava “I liked the self-esteem art because we got to write how we feel about ourselves”

Alfie “Sumdog give out lots of games to play. You even get your own pet. Best maths game EVER!”

Charlotte ” I like when we made the Northern Lights picture because it was fun using chalk”

Lia “I enjoyed the self-esteem art. I like how everybody had to write out each others good points”

Erin ” I liked the Northern Lights picture. We got to see lots of different pictures in real life. It was pretty cool because our drawings looked like them”

Hannah “I liked the Aurora Borealis because we got to do our own design and we got to see how they look in real life”

Ruby “I like doing the emojis for the class charter because I love emojis”  (Tia then reminded us all about how our class charter links in with the Rights of the Child)

Amyleigh ” I enjoyed doing our personality islands because we got to write about and discuss our personalities”

Deacon “I like the self-esteem art because of the nice things people said. It was nice of them to say that”

Last week we also has lots of fun learning about light and shadow during Science lessons. We even made our own colour wheels! Check out our video!
