Week beginning 18.09.23

It has been a shorter week, but nonetheless a busy one!

We finally finished reading cloud busting and learned the importance of being a good friend, being kind and showing compassion.

We have started our new topic for the next 6 weeks and it is called ‘The Apprentice’. We are going to work in our teams to create a series of challenges over the coming weeks. We have decided our teams names this week and created logos for them. The teams are as follows:

Team Storm

Team Golden Odyssey

Team Echo

Team Paws

Team Gridwear

Team Diamond

We started a team building task which involved creating a group art (a house). This was so much fun and we can’t wait to finish it when we return!

Week beginning 11.9.23

Happy International Dot Day!

We have had a wonderful week of learning! From our first woodland day experience, to creating our own special dots to celebrate international dot day. Here is a little snippet of our week:

Fractions, Decimals and percentages

This week we have been doing decimals and percentages and how to convert between the three. We were also looking at the numbers after the decimal point eg tenths, hundredths and thousandths.

Changing poetry layouts

This Thursday we rewrote our poems into a lovely layout and we had a choice to do it on a Chromebook or with a piece of paper. We used different fonts and colours to highlight key vocabulary and figurative language.

Cloud busting

This week in Cloud busting we have read chapters 15-22! We are so close to finishing which we think will be next week.

International dot day

It is international dot day today (15th Spetember) and to celebrate we read the book, the dot, then created our own crazy dots to ‘make our mark’.

Woodland area

This week was our first woodland day. We explored the area and looked for different plants and insects.

Week beginning 4th September

What a lovely week of sunshine we have had! There has been a lot of learning taking place in P7c and here is a little snippet of our week:

Limericks, Cinquains and Haikus

On Thursday for writing, we wrote poems about something from nature, and we chose 2 different techniques. I chose to write about a tree and wrote it as a limerick and a cinquain.

Taking in some sunshine

On Thursday we went outside to read our books as it was very hot.

Decimals in maths

We have been working on decimals all week doing three and two digit decimals.

Go and open the door

We made posters and leaflets with poems titled ‘Go and open the door of…’ We did this in groups of 3 and everyone used their creativity to make theirs different.

Kapla Towers

Everybody was in a group and built towers. The requirements were: you had to build a storage area and a balcony and the tower had to be free standing.

Football in the muga

In the MUGA for P.E we played football and played matches of boys vs boys and girls vs girls. It was lots of fun.

Week beginning 28th August

Another very productive week in Primary 7C. From developing our poetry writing skills, to exploring different cloud types. It has been a week packed with some awesome learning.  Here is a little overview of things we have done:

The boy, the mole, the fox and the horse.

We watched a video of the author of the book (Charlie Mackesy). Then we made art with motivational quotes. Mine was “Dream bigger.”

Science with Miss Ralston

We used a microscope to look closely at soil, sand, and gravel. It was so much fun!

Crazy Disney Poems

For our poetry unit we explored crazy Disney poems. We made 3 columns for objects, verbs and adverbs then we wrote something for each and combined them into unusual, crazy sentences.

Emotions Poetry

We wrote some poems based on emotions. Mrs Rasul could not believe her eyes. She said they were so good and wanted us to write them again on beautiful paper and put them on the wall.

Types of clouds

We learned about different clouds this week. The names of the clouds we investigated were Cumulus, Stratus, Cirrus, Nimbo Stratus, Cumulonimbus. Then we went outside to see the clouds in the sky and guess what they were.

Cloud scaping images

We were given pictures of clouds and we had to think of animals or people they reminded us of off and draw on them to bring it to life.
