It has been another busy week in Primary 7B with a lot of learning opportunities and interesting discussions taking place.

As part of Mother Tongue Languages day on Monday we used our country of Germany to link in to our learning. We investigated the country of Germany and Mrs Norman taught us some German. We created flags for around the school and signs for different rooms.

We learned about ratio with Mr Wilson and used real life materials to investigate the concept. We were able to link it to our learning about fractions. We even got to use some of Mr Wilson’s special post it’s to reflect on our learning. On Friday we got to select activities linked to ratio and enjoyed applying our knowledge.

Our unexpected snow day led to a STEM challenge. We needed to create a person and a set of skis, a sledge or a snowboard to allow our character to move down the hill in the snow. Our creations were very creative, with some groups even considering the placement of the person on the equipment. Additionally we needed to use materials that we then could return to use in the classroom. Some of them worked better than others but we all were able to consider what adaptions we could make.

When Mrs Jamieson came out to announce a snowman competition we couldn’t help but get competitive!! Our snowman kept growing and growing until he was taller than Mr Wilson! By the end of the day he was looking a little bit tired.

In writing we considered inspirational characters from stories or people who changed the world and wrote some letters to them asking some questions about facts we would like to know. We started the lesson with a game to guess the famous character our partner had chosen.

We finished Mother Tongue Languages week with a day dressed in our German colours. Everyone went to so much effort and we all looked fantastic. Thank you to our students who brought in their German flags.
