Fantastic February in Primary 7B

This week has been another wonderful week in Primary 7, Mr Wilson continued to help lead our learning with experiences that were both challenging and engaging. We were all over the moon when his visiting tutor from university came to observe him and got to see the fantastic lessons he has been planning for us. As a class all the students were outstanding and once again represented themselves, and their school, to the highest of standards. As a class teacher I was so proud of them all.

On Monday we were visited by Mrs Nassar and Mrs Riaz to share important messages about respect and diversity. We really appreciated the visit and the opportunity to ask questions and hear experiences.

We very kindly got to borrow circuit board equipment from Eastwood High school for our electricity lesson. We linked our learning into experiences within the war, in particular black outs.

In numeracy and mathematics we were looking at Distance, Speed and Time. To help us see the relevance of this topic Mr Wilson showed us some clips of the Speed Skating at the Winter Olympics. We used the skaters times and the distance they skated to work out how fast they were going. We then used some toy cars and ramps to record our own findings, calculate the answers using our distance, speed and time formula before we then added some variables to our experiment.

On Thursday afternoon we got to take part in an art lesson with Mr Wilson linked to literacy. We used our Anderson Shelters and a diary extract to create war themed images using a range of media. By using different visual elements we added a variety of context to our work. We continued to use these on Friday for some drama based around being in a shelter.

On Friday morning we were scheduled to have the MUGA for some PE but due to the snow we opted to have a play in the MUGA. Some people opted to make snowmen and towers, create bunkers or challenge each other to throw a snowball the furthest. When we came back in we didn’t have long before break so we took the opportunity to watch some of the Olympic Speed skating live to link to our speed, distance, time learning earlier in the week.

Lets hope everyone has a lovely weekend and ready to return on Monday for another fantastic week in Primary 7.
