Thanks again for being an amazing class. You all worked so hard and we are very proud of you!

Our Last Full Week!!

I can’t believe this is our last full week in P5a. The class and I have been very emotional taking down the wall displays and sending everything home! We have had lots of fun activities this week and more to come on Monday and Tuesday. For everyone who has already left school for the summer, Mrs Fry and myself wish you all the best in Primary 6 and we miss you already!

Bump Up Day:
Taylor- We all moved to our new classes to meet our P6 teachers. In my new class we solved questions based on ourselves like how many pets we have.

Literacy:
Evie- We finished making our Matilda board games and we swapped them around the class to play each others! In writing we wrote letters to our new P6 teachers.
Ava- We also watched the Matilda movie and did a Venn diagram to compare the film with the book!

Numeracy:
Matthew- We have been competing in Sumdog competitions against our groups (revising time, area and perimeter, multiplication and division) and taking turns of maths board games and card games.

Health and Wellbeing:
Sophie B- We were learning about keeping safe and our five trusted individuals. We played feelings charades, we sorted scenarios on to traffic lights (red is don’t feel safe, yellow is feel ok, green is feel safe completely) and we draw around our hands to show the 5 people we would go to if we were feeling unsafe.

Philosophy:
Murdo- We did a voice warm up around the circle taking turns and then we listened to a reading passage and discussed our thoughts and opinions (Wandering Adventures).

Outdoor Learning:
Bike Ability-

Activity Trail-

House Reward Trip:
Well done to those in Stevenson who won the House Reward of going to Heads of Ayr Farm Park!

This Week In P5a!

The children have had another great and busy week with their school trip and the celebration of achievements!

Gallery of Modern Art:
Harley- We got the train to the art gallery and we did activities in groups recreating and being inspired by other artists. We also got to sketch what we could see!

Literacy:
Ava- We finished our class novel Matilda and worked in teams to create a Matilda themed board game! We had to create questions cards and include them in our game.
Sara- We made a website to share our learning in P5 (Google Sites).

Numeracy:
Lewis- Our groups revised what we have been learning this term.

Health and Wellbeing:
Myra- We played rounders in the MUGA! Rounder is so fun 🙂
Morven- We learned about consent and played games like passing around random objects and only passing them on if they say yes please and using body language/expressions to consent to being offered ‘cups of tea’.

Outdoor Learning:
Ethan- To complete our RSPB Silver Award, we went on the Chromebooks to research and make a Sway or Google site to create a guide on how to make a compost bin.

Philosophy:
Evie- We read a passage and discussed our thoughts and feelings using the talking stick! (Wandering Adventures)

A Busy Health Week!!

We have had so much fun attending all of these workshops and going to David LLoyd!  We have been SO busy and we are now exhausted, I hope you all have a good rest over the weekend P5A!

Literacy:
Sara- We finished our Matilda story boxes and in writing we created our own website on Google Sites! We had to use headings, choose layouts, bullet points, fonts and graphics.

Numeracy:
Harley- The circles continued to learn how to find the duration of times but now in hours and minutes.
Yi Chen- The triangles learned how to multiply and divide by 10 and 100.
Jack- The squares continued learning how to find the area and perimeter of shapes.
Kerr- We also worked in stations today doing mental maths challenges, Chromebook tasks, maths games, problem solving tasks and 4 operations calculations!

Healthy Mind-Set:
Lucas- We had a visitor gives us tips and tasks to do to create a healthy mind-set like power poses, goal-setting and positive affirmation.

Orienteering:
Murdo-We did relay races where had to match the map symbols with the words and we also had to quickly find a stamper and put it in the right numbered box. We then matched a picture with mapping symbols like a jigsaw.

Hope you all have a lovely Jubilee weekend!

The class had a great time at the tea party:

Numeracy:
Christopher- The squares were learning how to find the area and perimeter of shapes.
Jamie MacKenzie- The circles were learning about how much time is in between other times (time duration).
Kate- The triangles were learning how to multiply and divide by 10.

Literacy:
Sophie  C- We wrote letters to our P1 buddies that we will have in primary 6.  We also started story-boxes on Matilda.

Science:
Cormac- We were learning about streamlining. We were running outside and then put our jackets up to see if it would take longer or shorter. It took longer because the streamlining made it go slower!
