Back to School!

I hope you all had a lovely Easter holiday! P5a have been back working hard and starting new topics and projects!

Literacy:
Maya- In writing, we used prompts to create our own story and created our own success criteria based on the techniques we have learned before.
Murdo- We have started our class novel Matilda! We used our before reading skills to gather information from the title, pictures, blurb, and first pages.

Numeracy:
Ava- This week, the triangles were revising fractions!
Inaaya- The squares have been revising number work and converting weight and length.
Myra- The circles have also been revising number work, symmetry, angles and converting units of measure.

Expressive Arts:
Yi Chen- We are doing an artist study topic. We learnt about the life of Picasso, cubism and then created our own self-portraits in this style! I loved making the face have shapes and lots of colours.

Heath and Wellbeing:
Olivia- In PE we did athletics. We timed our pace for walking, jogging, running and sprinting and our teams had to try and get to the finish line in our times.
Matthew- We also started a friendship topic! We had a whole class debate about different statements on friendship. Then we looked at different scenarios and decided in our groups what the actions and consequences of a true friend and a fake friend would be.

Technology and Design:
Kate- We have started a design project called The Change Challenge. Today, we had to brainstorm ideas in our chosen groups to create a new product designed to make the life of someone in our local or wider community easier. We had to present our design brief to the class.

Outdoor Learning:
Lewis- We made toad holes using outdoor materials to finish off our RSPB Wild Challenge (Bronze) Award.
