As it is currently Ramadan, we have been finding out all about it with some help from the children in our class. The boys and girls have loved learning about traditional dress and how to prepare for prayer . We had a go at making our own prayer mats after seeing Muriam’s beautiful mat that she brought in to share.

Solo talks and Getting ready for the holidays – w.b. 28.03.22

As we come to the end of our Second term in P2A, we have taken time to reflect on all that we’ve achieved so far. After a busy few months we are all very ready for our holidays! Have a great break everyone and I can’t wait to hear all of your stories when you are back.

Solo Talks

We blew Miss Muir away with how fabulous our solo talks were. For homework we chose a hobby or interest to share with the class and brought in some things to help us talk about them. We then gave each other feedback about what went well and our next steps. Everyone tried very hard and should be extremely proud of themselves!

Woodland

We enjoyed having some time to play in our woodland, even though the weather kept changing between sun and snow! Some of us managed to catch some drops of snow on our tongues.

Easter crafting

Lots of bunnies could be found in P2A this week!

Science week and P7 Story telling w.b. 14.03.22 /21.03.22

We had great fun during last weeks Science week. First of all we watched a live lesson all about the life cycle of chickens. We put the pictures in order with a partner and learned that when a chick hatches from its egg it’s called a hatchling.

We designed incubators for our chicks and made them using our play materials.

“they need heat and need to turn so that they can come out of their egg”. – Christian

We have been busy practising our passing in P.E. Our challenge was to throw or kick a ball to our partner at the same time without them bumping each other.

Working on our balance and coordination in P.E.

P7 invited us to their class for a fabulous story telling afternoon. They created their own picture books to share, which were fantastic!

Book Week and Ball Games w.b. 07.03.22

Odd and even

Here we are learning about odd and even numbers!

P. E.

In P.E. we have been having fun by focusing on controlling the ball and passing it to our partner in different ways.

Time

We had a go at making our own clocks outside using chalk and sticks. We then challenged our partners to tell different times and write it in digital notation.

w.b. 21.02.22 Snow Day and Scottish dancing

This week we have enjoyed celebrating ‘national mother tongue week’. We have talked about some of the languages we know and loved hearing all about Doric from Erin.  We learned that a loon is a boy and a quine is a girl!

We practised saying hello and asking each other our names in French.

Ceilidh dancing

To round off our Scotland topic, we have been learning how to ceilidh dance!

We just loved playing in the snow on Thursday and had the best time building our snowmen! Some of us even managed to get Miss Muir with a sneaky snowball…

W.b. 31.01.21 Highland dancing and Healthy eating

After a long awaited update, we are all very glad to be back together again in P2a!

Here we are getting back into the swing of things with our Literacy work. We have been working on the skill of answering questions using our reading books,as well as learning some new sounds.

Scotland topic

As part of our Scotland topic we have been learning how to do some Highland dancing. We started by learning the 5 positions our feet make, as well as the first step of the Highland Fling. Keeping our balance was a bit tricky, but we gave it a fantastic go!

We have been learning to find information by reading some Scottish fact files. The headings and subheadings helped us to find the information we wanted to quickly answer different questions.

It’s been so lovely having everyone back playing together again. Some of the children made Isla a cake out of loose parts for her birthday. She was very pleased with the surprise and even ‘blew out’ her candles!

We love using our class calendar to keep up to date with everything going on each month and were super excited when Muriam shared her very own handmade calendar with us!

Health & Wellbeing

We impressed Miss Muir with everything we already knew about keeping our bodies healthy. Working in teams, we discussed our ideas and recorded them together.

We’re on the countdown to Christmas! 20.12.21

We have had a super busy couple of weeks in p2a, between preparing for our nativity and being involved in lots of fun festive events.
Here we are at the present room!

The boys and girls did such an amazing job learning their lines and all of our nativity songs. We were all over the moon to be able to share this with our families!

There is some excellent Christmas crafting taking place in the following photos.

Party time in P2a!

We’ve even managed to squeeze in some festive measuring.   Last week we had a challenge to draw different Christmas related pictures by making them different lengths and heights after learning about metres and centimetres.

w.b. 15.11.21 Brilliant Book week!

This week we have had fun celebrating Book Week. The boys and girls chose their favourite books from class and shared it with some of their friends in class. It was lovely to hear about so many different books and even gave us some great ideas of books we’d like to read next!

We read the book Rocket mole and had a go at a STEM challenge to make our own catapults out of spoons and elastic bands to send Armstrong the mole (a pebble) into space!

After reading Stick man, the girls and boys made up their own stick stories during our woodland time. There was lots of creativity to be seen with our sticks going on lots of different adventures!
