Road Safety Calendar
We were delighted to hear that 2 of our pupils made the top 60 images in the East Renfrewshire Road Safety Calendar Competition.
Lawizah Shabaz in Primary 7 was Highly Commended for her efforts.
Katie Hayes in Primary 1 had her entry included in this years calendar which is distributed to all schools in East Renfrewshire.
Woodfarm Cluster Badminton Tournament
A team of 4 boys and 4 girls visited Woodfarm last Friday with Mrs McGarvey to take part in a Cluster Badminton Tournament. The team had the opportunity to play singles, doubles and mixed doubles games. We enjoyed taking part and wish Giffnock, the cluster winners, success in the East Renfrewshire Tournament later in the session. Some of the team are attending the Badminton Event at the Emirates Arena this weekend after our school obtained free tickets. The badminton after school club will continue next term led by Mrs McGarvey.
Greenbank Gardens Wheelbarrow Competition 13th and 14th June
Latest news – the nursery class once again won this competition with their Gruffalo Entry. Well done!!
Once again 2 classes from our school and nursery have entered wheelbarrows in Greenbank Gardens Wheelbarrow Competition. Please go along to the Gardens this Saturday 13th June and Sunday 14th June and vote for our Nursery Class and Primary 3 Wheelbarrows. We have done well in this competition every yaer since we started entering but we need all your votes to do so. If you say you are there to vote in the competition you will get free entry to do so.

Tri-Athlon event – Wednesday 25th February
Tri-Athlon event- Wednesday 25th February 2015.
Around 25 Pupils have been attending every week a Tri-athlon club at Woodfarm high. They have been training hard and have been getting fitter every week. Over the past 5 weeks they have been training towards a mini Tri-athlon event which will be held in Woodfarm High on Wednesday 25th February 4-5pm. Medals will be given out to 1st,2nd and 3rd places.
Greenbank Garden Wheelbarrow Competition 14th/15th June
Thanks to all who voted at the weekend. The competition was very close with Thornliebank Nursery coming 3rd equal with 2 other ERC nursery classes and Primary 3 just after in 4th. We have now had Wheelbarrows in the top 4 consistently for the last 5 years. Well done to all the pupils and staff in both classes for all their hard work.
Fairtrade Fortnight 24.02.14 – 07.03.14
Thornliebank Primary is going bananas for Fairtrade Fortnight.
Classes will be taking part in a wide range of Fairtrade activities.

Dress for the Future
A reminder that all pupils in the nursery and school are asked to come Dresssed for the Future on Friday 22nd November. Come dressed for the job you want to do when you are older.
Certificates will be given out for the most original/unusual jobs at a special assembly on Friday.

Greenbank Gardens Wheelbarrow Competition 15th and 16th June
The Nursery Class and Primary 3 are entering a wheelbarrow in The Greenbank Gardens Competition again this year. Last year the nursery won the competition and we are hoping to do well agin this year. Both groups of children have worked very hard and their wheelbarrows look great. We need lots of poeple to visit Greenbank Gardens this weekend and vote for our wheelbarrows. A family letter was sent out with directions to the gardens on Wednesday. Please try to go along and vote for our wheelbarrows.
Sport Your Trainers – Tuesday 12th March
Wear a pair of trainers to school on Tuesday, along with smart school uniform, in support of the Commonwealth Games. Thornliebank will also have a visit from Clyde the Games Mascot at a special assembly in the morning. We are very lucky as only 24 schools are receiving a visit from Clyde. Clyde will be picking out pupils with eye catching and unusual trainers to receive prizes.
Book Character Day Friday 8th March
Come to school dressed as your favourite book character this Friday. You will get a chance to show off your costume at the Book Week Assembly when we will also find out the winners of all our Book Week competitions.

Greenbank Garden Competition
The nursery won the Greenbank Garden Competition and the P4/5 gardening group came 3rd. This is the second time in 3 years Thornliebank have won this competition. Well done to all the pupils and staff involved.
