Primary 6c

In Science, we have enjoyed learning about the importance of safety in the Science lab.  We were able to identify the various hazards in an unsafe lab.

We had a great time using different methods of measurement to investigate dimension, temperature, mass, volume and time.

We used measuring cylinders to measure out specific volumes of dried peas.  It is important to come down to eye level when taking the measurement.

By using metre sticks and rulers, we measured the length of the side of a desk, length of a jotter, our hand span and our height.

We used thermometers to measure the temperature of room water, tap water and ice water.

We had fun timing each other to say the alphabet, tie our shoe laces and tie our school tie.  We estimated in minutes and seconds how long we thought it would take us, before using a digital stop clock to time the actions.

We recorded our results in tables.

Primary 3a

The pupils of Primary 3a have had fun learning more about symmetry since they started back school. They enjoyed playing a “symmetry copycat game” with a partner to create lovely symmetrical pictures using 2d shapes.

Primary 2c

Primary 2c used their knowledge of  2D  and 3D shapes to identify shapes and objects in the environment.

We used cubes to work out the story of 11 and 12.

We love using Education City to reinforce our learning.

We are developing our mental maths skills using number fans.

Primary 4b

Primary 4b has been learning all about place value and love playing on the interactive whitebaord to help us learn.

As part of our Social Studies topic on the Vikings, we made Viking oatcakes. We then did an instructional piece of writing on how to make the Viking oatcakes in our writing jotters.

Primary 5a

Primary 5a has been enjoying football during their cages time.

Celebrations all round as their team scored a goal!

Here we are practising our passing skills.

Can he score the goal…

Yes! He did it… well done!

Primary 3b

Here are P3b athletes learning to conquer the activity trail as part of our Health and Wellbeing programme.

These are the excellent singers from P3b practising hymns to Our Lady for our special birthday celebration.

The P3b mathematicians are using mirrors to reflect patterns which helps to teach us about symmetry.

We can “score goals” in our writing when we have good ideas or WOW words.

Here are some children from P3b making our mummy as part of our Social Subjects project on Ancient Egypt.

P3b enjoying their “5 – a – day” as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Primary 6a

Primary 6A have been learning about safety procedures in a Science lab. We have been working with Miss Iafrate, the Science Specialist, to use apparatus and to develop our knowledge of measure through Science. It was great fun!

Primary 5b

It’s big smiles for Primary 5b when doing their Active Maths! We worked together and tested one another on our subtraction calculations.

It’s big smiles for 5b when doing their Active Maths! We worked together and tested one another on our subtraction calculations.

Look at how much fun we’re having!

K’Nex

Primary 6d are enjoying working with our visiting Science Ambassador Mr Jack McGowan. We are developing our engineering skills by working together in teams to plan, design and build structures using K’Nex materials.

Primary 6b

Primary 6b are working together to reinforce the mathematical concept of rounding. They completed a number of tasks to challenge each other and themselves to further develop their rounding skills.

Primary 6b have a Twitter wall which gives them the opportunity to show others what they have learned and what they would like to learn more about to further enhance their learning.

Primary 7a

Social Studies
Our topic is Glasgow to link with our class novel “Divided City”. In groups we followed a set of instructions to locate grid references on a map. These grid referneces directed us to famous Glasgow landmarks.

We then worked as a class to create a display in the class featuring photos of the landmarks, matching a blurb about each landmark and the corresponding grid reference. It was a tricky activity but we worked well together.

Science
We drew tables to record the results of our experiments. Scientists always use rulers to draw lines!

We measured the volume of the water in millilitres. It was important to leave the measuring cylinder on the table so the water is still for the reading. Matty had a very steady hand and did not spill a drop of water.

At another station we had to measure the mass (grams) of different items including a pencil, a pencil case and a jotter. The pencil case was the heaviest item. Can you believe Anthony’s pencil case weighed over 1 kilogram!

Primary 2b

As part of our Katie Morag topic, we have been learning about island life. We now know that an island is an area of land surrounded by water so we used a Globe and Atlas to find different islands around the world. We also looked at Scotland and shared our ideas about how different life is in a city, like Glasgow, to a Scottish Island, like the Isle of Coll (or the Isle of Struay where Katie Morag lives).

In Numeracy we have been practising our addition to 10 and addition to 20 using active partner activities such as ‘Silent Maths’ and ‘Guess My Hidden Number’. We have also been exploring teen numbers by adding 10 to a single digit number.

Primary 3c

Look at us travelling through the hoops as fast as we can!

Look how good we are at hopping from one cone to the next and changing foot on the way back. What skill!

We are counting the jumps it takes us to jump round the square.

It is hard work but we are having great fun!

Primary 7c

Primary 7c participated in Safety in the Park. They really enjoyed the active lessons in fire and road safety. They learned about the dangers of drugs and alchol along with many other important lessons.

Primary 2d

In Primary Two we have been learning to add up to twenty. We worked in small groups and used our cubes to explore the story of 11 and 12.

During our PE lessons we have been improving our fitness. We have been working at different stations with different activities to help us do this. We have been bouncing and catching the basketball, doing star jumps, jumping over obstacles and running.

Do you think we look like good atheletes?

Primary 4a Developing Team Skills

Primary 4a have been working on developing team working skills. Here are some pictures of us working together to see which team could build a straw line from one end of the hall to the other in the shortest time.

We worked out that it would be best to work individually first and then combine our lines at the end.

It was very close and we are hoping to have a rematch soon!
