Primary 7a

Social Studies
Our topic is Glasgow to link with our class novel “Divided City”. In groups we followed a set of instructions to locate grid references on a map. These grid referneces directed us to famous Glasgow landmarks.

We then worked as a class to create a display in the class featuring photos of the landmarks, matching a blurb about each landmark and the corresponding grid reference. It was a tricky activity but we worked well together.

Science
We drew tables to record the results of our experiments. Scientists always use rulers to draw lines!

We measured the volume of the water in millilitres. It was important to leave the measuring cylinder on the table so the water is still for the reading. Matty had a very steady hand and did not spill a drop of water.

At another station we had to measure the mass (grams) of different items including a pencil, a pencil case and a jotter. The pencil case was the heaviest item. Can you believe Anthony’s pencil case weighed over 1 kilogram!

Maher Project

Sr Lucy Kurien, a Catholic nun who founded and runs the Maher Project in India for disadvantaged women and children, visited our school on September 9th to tell us about all the work that she does. Sr Lucy collected a cheque for £1000 which we raised by bringing a donation, on our school Feast Day, to dress in our own clothes!  A huge thank you to everyone for such a marvellous response.

Primary 2b

As part of our Katie Morag topic, we have been learning about island life. We now know that an island is an area of land surrounded by water so we used a Globe and Atlas to find different islands around the world. We also looked at Scotland and shared our ideas about how different life is in a city, like Glasgow, to a Scottish Island, like the Isle of Coll (or the Isle of Struay where Katie Morag lives).

In Numeracy we have been practising our addition to 10 and addition to 20 using active partner activities such as ‘Silent Maths’ and ‘Guess My Hidden Number’. We have also been exploring teen numbers by adding 10 to a single digit number.

Primary 3c

Look at us travelling through the hoops as fast as we can!

Look how good we are at hopping from one cone to the next and changing foot on the way back. What skill!

We are counting the jumps it takes us to jump round the square.

It is hard work but we are having great fun!
