EASTWOOD PARK THEATRE SAFETY in the PARK PROVOST’S DEBATE

Primary 7 is always a busy year and we are getting off to a flying start with several visits out of school!

Next Tuesday 20th August, we shall walk across to Eastwood Park Theatre to attend a “Meet the Author” Edinburgh Book Festival Outreach event at 2.00pm. The author is Joseph Delaney who has written a series of “Spooks” books. There is no charge for this event; however Mr Delaney will be signing copies of his books priced at £4.50. More information can be found on his website, www.spooksbooks.com

If you wish your child to buy a book, please just send the money in on Tuesday.

On Thursday 29th August, we shall take part in “Safety in the Park” in and around the grounds of Arthurlie House, Barrhead. This is a very worthwhile, half day event where the children will join in small group activities to highlight danger issues in areas such as traffic, fire, and internet safety.

P7a and ½ P7b will attend 9am – 12 pm and P7c and ½ P7b, 12pm – 3.00pm.

We celebrate our school Feast Day on Friday 6th September; Our Lady’s Birthday being Sunday 8th September. Weather permitting; we shall take P5 – P7 classes to morning Mass, walking to St. Vincent’s Church, leaving school at 9.30 am and returning at 11.00am.

We would be grateful for any parents with an East Renfrewshire Disclosure Certificate to accompany us.

Also, each Primary 7 class in the Authority is invited to take part in a debate in the Council Chambers, Eastwood Park. Provost Carmichael will guide the children in a topical debate of their choice. The classes will learn about Council debating procedures and protocols.

Dates for the debates are: – P7a Monday 9th Sept, P7b Friday 13th Sept, P7c Monday 16th Sept,

All visits are in the morning and the children will walk to the Council offices through Eastwood Park.

We shall have an Ardentinny Parents’ Meeting in September, further details to follow.
